Any word anywhere on this? Is it region-free? Does it have the comprehensive extra features that were on the French Director's Cut? If so, are they PAL or can they be played on a U.S. PS3? The latter issue is why I've resisted importing the French version...

The Kinowelt release does NOT contain the DC. The French disc is still the only release, that contains the DC.

Yes really. It's been confirmed by owners of the disc in a German forum some time ago. You can also see it by the rating (FSK12 instead of FSK16) and the running time of the disc. It was confirmed by Kinowelt short before the release too.

I think Kinowelt has to be blamed for the confusion/misinformation, because their foregoing DVD release (DVD: Kinowelt (Special Edition - Unzensiert) DC ) contained the DC, while the blu-ray release with (almost) the same name (blu-ray: Kinowelt(Special Edition)) doesn't.
