Default Horror movies that take place on islands (Blu-ray list)

Here's a handy Blu-ray list for one of my favorite cinematic subgenres...

* I Eat Your Skin (1971) is an island horror film featured on the Grindhouse Releasing disc for I Drink Your Blood.
* It's Alive III: Island of the Alive is included in the It's Alive Trilogy box set from Scream Factory.
* Vinegar Syndrome's 5 Films 5 Years Vol. 2 Blu-ray set includes The Dungeons of Harrow.

This is a work in progress, so let me know which missing titles need to be added.

Technically, wouldn't that include every horror movie that takes place in Great Britain?

A valid point. I have to draw the line somewhere, though.

Just had a moment..When I saw King Kong on the list I said to myself "of course, because it partially takes place on Manhattan island"

Probably my favorite island horror move: The Mutilator. The outer banks are gorgeous and this movie managed to make them feel cold, isolated and scary. The kills are legendarily insane and the '80s slasher vibes are off the charts! Also, who doesn't love that out of place '70s sitcom-sounding theme music that plays over the opening credits? I freaking adore this movie.

Island Claws is legitimately one of the corniest, yet bizarrely entertaining horror movies I've ever seen. I've only seen it once but the entire thing is burned in my brain it was so ridiculously over the top and melodramatic. I need to revisit it soon!

So every movie in Manhattan counts too? And would that extend to Long Island as well because...

And "Amity, which may or may not be on Long Island..."

I’ve never thought of The Jurassic Park franchise as horror films. They feel more sci-fi action-adventure to me. But, yes it would be horrifying if a dinosaur was chasing you.

Xavier Gens‘ new film, Cold Skin, which is very good and which could be summed up as The Shape of Water meets Assault on Precinct 13.

Val Lewton‘s Isle of the Dead.

Island if the Fishmen

The awful remake of The Fog

Many movies are hybrids of two or more genres. That means they are part of all of these genres. It’s not about feelings, it’s about genre conventions. All of these movies are monster movies, which is a horror subgenre.

I was thinking about that and logically it has to be an island but is Dagon ever identified as such ? In the Lovecraft stories Innsmouth and Dagon, which the movie is based on, aren’t islands as far as I remember. I could be wrong though.
