Default Blu-Ray Movies That You Would Keep "Forever"

Till the next new format comes, I would definitely keep my BTTF Trilogy UK Tin, Lost: The Complete Collection, and Alien Anthology. I may end up selling the rest away some day.... Maybe I will keep my Harry Potter UEs too.

All of them.

I don't plan to jump into digital distribution with both feet. They'll have to drag me kicking and screaming.

As far as I'm concerned, what I have now should be the last time I have to buy any of these. If everything goes digital I should be able to rip my 1080p Blu-rays to a storage device and play it like that. I don't see why I'd need to ditch 'em.

All of my collection. I never get rid of anything in my collection, from old PS and GameCube games to BDs.

A copy of the original theatrical Star Wars. It would be kept right next to my white iPhone.

so which is it? "Forever" or "Till the next format comes"??

I'll keep almost everything I have until the next format comes, and even then I don't know if I'd even jump on, much less how many I would bother buying again.

Amen to that! I've updated about 40% of my DVDs to Blu, and that's because they were the ones that i watched A LOT. I am absolutely stunned by the quality of BluRay, as well as the packaging and extras that come with the good sets
There is no way in hell i would by a digital-only version - if the storage device it was on failed, and the outlet you bought it from didn't offer a backup service, you are in trouble. Better to have a physical version there just in case, plus i like something tangible to hold, not just hard drive space.

Ideally, I'd like to keep all my BDs for as long as I can. I really hope all this "purely digital" talk is nonsense, because there'd be nothing to stop the studios from doing whatever they want to customers. If you have a physical copy of something, then for most (legal) purposes, it is yours to do with as you please. But if all you get is some electronic file, what's to stop anyone from permanently taking it away?

Oh yeah definitely all of them. I don't care if digital distribution ever really takes hold, because I don't think it ever will. But even if it does, Steve Jobs will have to take my BDs from my cold, dead hands.

Me too!

I am a collector, I used to collect trading cards and comics, and I've always collected movies and video games. I like having a bookshelf full of books too, a Kindle just doesn't have the same feel, ya know?

I've also backlisted a significant number of my DVDs to Blu. At first I didn't see the point, and chose to buy action-packed blockbusters on Blu and everything else on DVD. After a while, though, the quality of Blu-ray really made an impact and I noticed unsavory things in my DVDs I wouldn't have noticed before. I just love knowing that the copy of my favorite movie I have on my shelf is the closest thing anyone can own to the film itself.

Buying something like Fight Club just makes more sense than blind-buying the latest blockbuster since I've watched Fight Club countless times over the years. Backlisting usually offers more bang for my buck, even taking in to consideration the fact that I'm double-dipping (or triple-dipping) every single time.

*1... I've traded 90% of my DVDs, and 98% of the VHS... I waited for this format for a while and continue to support it. nothing goes...

Most all of them. I do occasionally sell one or two here and there that I blind bought and didn't care much for, but I always put the money towards new blu-rays.

Oh by the way, nice avatar cbb223!

I don't think I would upgrade to another format so fast(I'm pretty comfortable with my Blus, thank you,) but if it did happen, I would keep my Ten Commandments Gift Set forever.
