Default Netflix - Rant thread #732,899

After 10 years of loyalty to this company they, like most companys/bosses changed for the worse.

1. It started with this holding back movies on release day nonsense...okay, so Redbox did the same thing.

2. It escalated when they told me they were raising my blu ray rental fees cuz of people who stream at home to their TVs...guess what? pass the charge onto them, cuz I dont care about streaming at home on my TV.

3. Longer waits for new releases in my Queue.

4. Last week it took them 2 days to ship me movies even though I had open spaces AND it stated the flicks were available NOW.

5. I have over 15 movies under SAVED with unknown release dates. Some of them have been like this for YEARS but yet they are available to PURCHASE!

6. Finally, and I revert to #1... I noticed yesterday Redbox had Knight and Day, Salt and the new Resident Evil available while Netflix just released Knight & Day and Salt....AND Resident Evil STILL isnt beling released by Netflix til the 25th!..but yet, thanks to Rebox,it sits in my hand NOW...and quite frankly I am tired of seeing long wait in my Q and then spending money at RB cuz its available NOW

So..even though Im too jaded with all these rental models, and wont sing the praises of Redbox, they are giving me what I want..semi-immediate gratification over Netflix..and until another model comes along and can better RB I will jump their ship - I no longer believe in customer loyalty cuz its become a ONE WAY STREET. SUCK IT NETFLIX

I have 4 Redboxes and 2 BB boxes within 2 miles of me so I get what I want 98% of the time

I probably won't be too far behind you, and for most of the same reasons. They are raising prices again at the end of this month too. I think I will try Redbox before switching companies.

Not to mention how inaccessible they are to the deaf and hard-of-hearing consumers. The last time I checked, only 300 out of 17,000 titles are captioned on Netflix's internet streaming services.

300 out of 17,000? That's not good.

My internet service provider demanded proof of what I was watching on Netflix and I gave them my user name. Afterwards, I started recieving real off-topic recommendations and it started asking me to rate movies I had already seen. A couple months after I had canceled my internet service provider, I recieved another bogus phone call from them (this time also speaking) stating that they were interested in a satallite adverstisement I had placed an add for on craiglist during a remodel about three years ago! We cancelled my order from Netflix after that.

I wish there was a perfect emoticon for this situation. If there were, it would be a man throwing up with another standing over him patting his back saying, "Did you get it all out?".

Seriously though, I don't know what your purpose in is in this thread? Are you trying to gather a posse with pitchforks and pickaxes to charge the Netflix corporation by torch light? Or are you just temporarily frustrated until you realize that Netflix instant-stream is actually a great service? Every device in the world now has instant streaming capabilities, get over it and try it!

Now about the new releases, I'm afraid that's how the cookie crumbles. 10 years ago, how many people do you think were griping that Blockbuster ran out of the movie they wanted and were forced to wait weeks on end before they could see it; instead were forced to rent the local copy of Honey I Shrunk the Kids every time they didn't have the movie?

(Well, thought we used to have a "There, there" smiley, and a throwing-up smiley, woudn't that be a combination?)

Every disgruntled fan wants to throw his lil' tantrum and say "Blockbuster wouldn't treat me like this!"
And then they try a few months of Blockbuster Online and find out.

(My first response to the header was "Maybe you just need to see other people for a while...And then, after a few drinks with a clingy, loud, high-maintenance Blockbuster who keeps talking about their younger days and doesn't want to settle down, you might realize what you had." )

No offense, but what on earth are you saying? Why would you ever give out personal information like usernames to anybody anyway? It doesn't matter if it's your ISP asking for proof. Don't give out your information!

Yeah it was a dumb thing to do, but they were telling my name and address over a public chat room and I wanted them to stop giving out my personal information.

Um... what? That doesn't make any sense. Why would the ISP provider do that?

Would love if they had subtitles on instant streaming.

Really miss the ability to make lists for movies, was a good way of finding different stuff.

It's funny because I've never had a problem with Netflix. No matter what package you sign up for, you're still getting more than what you pay for. If I watch a movie on instant-stream and the quality is atrocious, I'll complain about it and they'll refund me $3 for terrible service. I'm not a fan of RB, but I'd say it's a rather decent service as well. I'm not a fan of late fees because I never want to be in the situation to have to return something by a certain date, so that's why I avoid RB and Clockbuster every time.

They wanted to know what I was watching on Netflix. Our cable television provider (same provider) had failed to delever more than 3 out of 30 something stations for a period of over half a year, and was still sending the bills in the mail, but we refused to pay them until it fixed, and it never was.

I was referring to the public chatroom. I just don't get that part. What was the name of this internet/cable provider you subscribed to?

You do realize that nothing that you're saying is in any way relevant to Netflix, nor does it make a lick of sense?

Anyway, I've never had a problem with Netflix and I'll admit I'm way to lazy to track down any Redbox Kiosks. Just send me my envelope in the mail and I'm happy. I'm in no rush either. [old man rant]That's the problem with kids today all of em in such a big damn hurry. [/oldmanrant]

Because Netflix is not your ISP. You're problems were with your ISP and had nothing to do with Netflix.
