I thought there was a thread like this but I couldn't find it. Merge, delete as required.

This thread was inspired by Jeff's latest Titanic pic.

And my pic is inspired by zombieflanders.

{at the begining of this year}
In Jan of this year Universal and the HD DVD prg anounced several Speilberg titles as comming soon (including ET)
A few days later they made an appologie to Speilberg and HD DVD owners and said they were pulled.

{this summer}
A few days ago (I guess from the pic it was Jul -18) at a HD DVD press event someone asked why the Speilberg movies were pulled. Kenny made the quote in the pic

Afew days later Sony anounced CE3K on BD with a new featurette from Speilberg in HD made for the BD version

With Paramount, that's a possibility.
(Except for it technically being a Lucasfilm...)

And maybe this time, we can buy "Raiders" separately outside of a boxset, without the other two crappy sequels holding it hostage!

I got this in an email so it could be fake but I didn't see anything about it at snopes so I thought I should pass it on...

...So, Richard Libertini of "The In-Laws" like HD?

(Seriously, guys--CAN WE KNOCK OFF THE SCHOOLYARD CRAP?
It's a few months later, we know we're winning, and we're not going to change Universal's mind overnight as long as Micro's yanking their leash, so it's better just to sit back, pass the popcorn, and let the CES '08 beat the living fertilizer out of them--
In the meantime, we could spend our time more constructively coming up with reasons you can tell your next door neighbor why to buy one, without sounding like gamer-d00ds--Most of whom, we read, were apparently too stupid to realize they could be PS3 Blu-ray gamer-d00ds in the first place.

Here's an idea.... why don't you spend more of your time composing these mature, constructive, level-headed threads you speak of and less time going around pissing in everyone's cereal. This bs format war is quite old at this point for a lot of us and there's nothing wrong with venting and having some damn fun. Just sayin.

Sorry, just my own experience:
Back when we Undecided people were staying Neutral until there was a clear lead, we on the Alt.DVD Usenet groups were beseiged with crossover Sony PS3-group gamer-nuts telling us how much they loved their "free player", and why Sony ruled and HD drooled, etc...
(If I keep the story short and say we had one in particular who wouldn't shut up about it, and thought he was a "gadfly" celebrity after his volunteer-shill posts became a regular heckling target for the group, would that pretty much summarize it?)

With the players selling badly before October, I know most of the evangelism right now is the gamer demographic, since they're the only ones out there to look at the disks.
But pretty soon, ol' Mandate Day's going to hit (82 days and counting!) and real grownup people are going to go to Best Buy and buy the real players--And if we can't come up with real explanations about why real working employed people With Ties and Everything shouldn't buy Blu, they're going to buy the cheaper player because they don't know better. And the "cheaper player" is going to have a Toshiba name on it. And talking about video games--and behaving in a similar manner thereto--isn't going to persuade.
(We can hope that they've been sufficiently scared off enough by Blockbuster and Target headlines, but hoping won't pay the rent.)

The industry is about to grow up by the end of the year, it would be nice if its existing demographic would be ready to do the same, just in time to meet it head-on.
