Default Opinions on this Receiver/Speaker Combo

Onkyo TX-SR507 OR Maybe TX-SR307?

Polk Monitor 50's
OR
Klipsch B-3's

Hi, I'm trying to work around a $500 Dollar Budget, I fell in love with the B&W 685's but those are out of my league . Anyways, I'm trying to put together a 2.1 deal, I will be mostly listening to music, and the occasional BR movie .

I'm going to save up a bit more for the Sub. So my Question is which speaker is best for my set-up and will hold enough bass to keep ahold till I purchase a Sub? I will also love to hear any other recommendations, please enlighten a noob such as myself.

Side note: If I get the 307, I'll be able to pick up a Sub, What ya think?

Given the choices, I would go with the 507 for the receiver and worry about the sub later. As far as the speakers go, have you listened to the Klipsch speakers? I'm guessing your have based on your screen name, but if you haven't then I recommend the Polks. Klipsch has a particular type of sound that tends to be love it or hate it. However, there are other good speakers and receivers out there?

The inevitable question is how rock solid is your budget?

I have a 2.1 Klipsch Pro Media Computer Speaker set-up, which has being my only exposure to Klipsch, it sounds pretty decent.

The budget is disappointingly rock solid.

I like that. I've been thinking about getting the same setup for my computer.

For front speakers I recommend you look at the first pair shown here.

A nice set of bookshelves for $80. Matching center and surrounds are the same price.

For a receiver I really like this Marantz, but with speakers it would put you over your budget.

That's why I was asking how solid the budget was. Vann's offers free shipping on the speakers, and the receiver would cost about $15 or so to ship. That would put you in at close to $100 over your budget, but it would be a nice step up. The receiver has a full set of pre-outs and decodes all lossless audio formats and would be a huge improvement over the Onkyo models. And Jamo is owned by Klipsch.
