Default J.K. Rowling is the next Jules Verne :p

http://www.newser.com/story/83707/sc...ity-cloak.html
Scientists Sneak Up on Invisibility Cloak
Material shields object from view in all directions

Quote:
(Newser) – German scientists say they have successfully used a new material to render an object invisible in three dimensions for the first time. Previous efforts at so-called invisibility cloaks could only hide objects from light coming in one direction. The material changes the behavior of light rays to "transform space," the lead researchers tells the BBC.

The material—made up tiny crystals with air spaces in between—shielded the object from infrared light, and the team is now trying to recreate the effect in the spectrum of light visible to humans. The object cloaked was minuscule, but scientists say the technology will work at any scale and we could soon be not seeing much bigger objects.

Not only is the internet one big Big Brother, but the real world could become one too

I love Harry Potter, the fact that I've read all 7 novels and will eventually have seen all 8 films should be proof of that but I wouldn't compare Rowling to Verne.

I read about this earlier this week. The article I read said its a long ways out until they can do anything larger. Also cloaking things has been an idea long before Harry Potter.

And watch this invisible cloak fall into the wrong hands. There's a lot of sick freaks out there.

I want a lightsaber, not a cloak of invisibility. Scientists need to get working on lightsabers next.

Lightsabers are cool (mine is black) but for everyday convience nothing beats a Phaser, the original ones. (The ones that phased out things totally from existance)

I'll take a lightsaber. And J.K. shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence as Verne..think of what the Doc would say...
