Default Darkening the WHITE Walls Either Side of My Screen

Any suggestions? Unfortunately I am renting so cannot apply anything perm.

Just wondering what sort of products are out there that I can use to put on the very white walls either side of my screen?

The glare that comes back off the walls creates a lot of washout on the actual image. I have the Optoma HD66 and was expecting a light cannon of a projector. Thus far haven't really been impressed with the brightness, I am expecting that this is because of the amount of glare bouncing back from the immediate walls.

Good idea. Paint it for now & when you move you just paint it white again.

Buy black (charcoal) color acoustic foam and attach them to the walls with staples. They will darken the walls, but more importantly, they will benefit the acoustics of your room by controlling the reflections from the walls.

Staples do minimum damage to the walls. Buy a manual staple gun from Wal-Mart or Home Depot/Lowes. Low priced acoustic foam can be purchased from The Foam Factory. Buy 2 inch thick or thicker pyramid foam.

Edit: I did not realize you are in New Zealand. I am sure you can buy foam and staples from stores there. Many U.S. dealers ship to other countries.

Man great prices on that Foam Factory website, shame they don't ship world wide.

Any suggestions on sites that ship to my side of the pond?

Another option for you to reduce glare around the screen is to use drapes like in movie theaters. That is what I did in my home theater.
