Default Should I add second sub that is same brand I have now or try to get better?

I currently have a BIC Acoustech H-100 subwoofer, since moving my theater stuff to the living room it is such a bigger space that my sub just can't fill it good. Sorta sounds like it only hits one side of the room really good. Just to test out 2 subs I added in an Onkyo HTIB sub to try out and it really evened out the sound. It seemed to make most bass alot better but also seemed to maybe make the lower end stuff like the infamous Kung Fu Panda Skadoosh not as good.

My question is that I'm thinking of buying another BIC Acoustech H-100 so I'd have dual H-100's that match or should I maybe try to just sell the one H-100 I have now and then put all the money towards a higher end sub??? I'd only have one sub then though and am not sure if it would be enough.

before you buy another or new sub, have you done the sub-crawl to find the sweet spot for your sub/room?

Do you have an SPL meter? If so, perhaps you can check on what level of output you are getting in the voids versus the areas of good bass response? Just to get a better idea of where the voids are and if any kind of pattern develops.

As a general rule, if you are using multiple subwoofers and your current subwoofer does not suck badly, it is best to use identical ones from the same manufacturer. Although using different subwoofers can work, equalization, level matching, and adjustments become much more difficult.

Read posts #1 & 2# of https://forum.blu-ray.com/subwoofers...oom-modes.html. It may confuse you so much that you may begin to hate your subwoofer.

My goal is to get four Hsu VTF2 subs
Whatever you decide, it is easiest to stick with the same model subwoofer.

Right now, unless you can really go all out on an upgrade, you should probably stick with adding another. The H-100 is a quality subwoofer for the money and upgrading from it to another subwoofer will still leave you with hot and cold spots in the room.

Yeah, this was my thinking and why I'm just gonna get another H-100. Having 2 of those should be more than enough.
