The Dirty Dozen: How bad, really?

I would love to add this to my collection, but I've read the review from this site and it seems to be another Warner debacle. This is one of my favorite movies and I'm wondering just how much better over the DVD, let alone upconverted DVD, is this? Thanks.

same here, I've seen way worse... it's old movie don't forget that... It's an awesome movie !

Thanks for the info. What bothers me is Warner will do a nice transfer for something like The Searchers. Certainly a classic although hardly a favorite for me. The Dirty Dozen is a bonafied classic, only a bit newer. Even though the two movies are differnt genre's, I find The Dirty Dozen to be so much better paced. Solid from start to finish. The Searchers drags a bit in places. Warner needs to get their head out of their ass and realize there are classics out there, that may not be really old like The Wizard of OZ, but never the less need a restore/remaster big time. The Dirty Dozen is one of them. Like the Guns of Navarrone. These are classic "old school" war movies.

The Dirty Dozen got great reviews? The difference is that The Searchers was shot with the VistaVision format, and TDD in spherical. Plus the latter was shot grainier to make the archive footage fit in.
And you can have a preference, but bashing The Searchers just because you like another movie better isn't really necessary.

add me to that list...... if you enjoy the movie, it's cheap.... pick it up..... it's got its flaws, but I know it's a heck of a lot nicer than my DVD version.
