If you have the cash the 8500 series Samsung looks very good. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the Samsungs. Just depends on what bells and whistles you want. My two younger brothers have a 55" 6000 series and it looks great.

Why not wait a little longer. The new 3D ready TVs are coming out this year. Even if you do not want one, the new TVs will drive what is on the marker right now down, down, down.

If you want the best LED right now. The Samsung 8500 has no equal. Of course that could change after Samsung puts out their new 9000 series LEDs later this year , but until those come out the LED king is the 8500.

Yep to the Samsung 8500. That is the top of what is available right now. The 8000 is just as good, but a lot less, so weigh your options. If you can look at a 8000 and 8500 right next to each other, see if you can tell $1,000+ difference. If you can't, save your money and get the 8000.

Also keep in mind, as was stated above, this year's new line of Samsung's are on the way. There is normally a batch in April, followed by another batch around August. If you can wait, the current TVs (55" or below) will be less. And the new 9000, 8000, 7000, etc. (up to 65") will be even better than what is out now.

Your call.

Currently as others have said, the Samsung 8500. But, it's not cheap. If the Sony 55" XBR8 was still available, I would have said that one is it's equal, if not better.

The Sony 46" XBR8 LED w/local dimming is still available at Onecall for under $2,000 if you are ok with that size. It's a great deal.

If you are looking for the best bang for the buck, the Vizio 551XVT, LED w/local dimming can be had for $1,899 at Costco. This 55" set has received good to excellent reviews. It's PQ is not as good as the Sony or Samsung, but it's also half the price. Costco adds another year warranty. Something to think about.

Actually the XBR8 is not better nor is it even equal. The XBR8 doesn't have an ANSI contrast ratio anywhere near the B8500 which actually has Kuro level ANSI contrast.

The XBR8 is very impressive, but the B8500 is a good deal better. The LG 55LH90 is also arguably better than the XBR8 with an ISF adjustment mode available to you right out of the box giving the ability to get an extremely accurate picture and blacks that are too low for measurement when properly calibrated.

Chad B. considers the B8500 and the 55LH90 to be two of the top three sets available with the Kuro coming in first. He states that both of these sets are of reference quality in his B8500 review. The 55LH90 can be had for around $2400 on the regular and I've seen it for as low as $2000 on sale. If money is no object get the B8500 and don't look back, but if value is more important then get the LG for a good $1500 less since its extremely close to the B8500 in regards to overall performance.

Its LED LCD TV not LED TV, if we named TV's with their lighting system, I would have a WCG-CCFL TV in my living room.

Best LED LCD TV is probably the Sony XBR8 but it carries a hefty price tag. 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio.....wow!

I love my XBR8!! The only thing I would be leery about Samsung is their poor service and reliability reputation. Their products do get great reviews though.

The LH90 is great because of the THX and the local dimming LEDS. the samsung 6000, 7100, and 8000 tvs are nice but you will get the halo effect because of the side lit leds. the 8500 is amazing!! if you wanna go big get either of those 2, if you can do 46, do what everyone else recommended and get the xbr8. i plan on getting the 55lh90 when it goes "end of life"

I don't like the screen on the Sony... It's bezel and screen are not so attractive to me... But that's my preference. The Samsung sets cabinets have always been very attractive to me.

The Samsung 8500 is a nice set, but I don't like the reflective screen as well as the reflective bezel. Would not work in my house as there is usually a light on somewhere in the room.
