Default "Best Picture" Blu-ray.com Tournament - Avatar Region Round 1! Come Vote!!

We are now underway for our 2nd official Blu-ray.com Tourney! This one is Best Picture Theme! Avatar Region! Same rules apply as the first tournament and u vote the same way as each film is paired in 2's and only one film will advance for each matchup. Just to be clear for some of those that dont follow march madness here is how it works. This poll will have 16 films but they are in matchups. So for example #1 seed The Godfather is up against #16 seed All the King's Men u only vote for 1 of those films to advance. U do that with every 2 films paired up and u choose 1 of each 2 paired because only 1 film from each pair will advance.

So its not 16 films head to head but they are in pairs head to head. Make sure u vote 1 film for each matchup. This will be opened for 3 days which is plenty of time to get your votes in. The winner of each individual matchup will advance to the 2nd round. Rememeber dont vote for the best 8 out of the 16 but do it on a matchup by matchup basis. If u have any questions feel free to ask!

Also this is not a best of or favorites matchup. I would say vote based on the overall take of the film u either feel is better or that u like better or a combination of both! Its up to u of what films to vote for and why. Make your vote count and please only vote 1 film for each paired matchup so that the voting totals come out correct. Below is the bracket link for this region just to make sure u understand what the matchups are. Here we go. Lets get this started!! Got Em!!

I went with:

Godfather
The Apartment
My Fair Lady
Slumdog
Forrest Gump (tough choice)
Gone With The Wind (though I don't care to sit through either of those again, any time soon)
Annie Hall
American Beauty (I love Capra and Stewart, but not that movie)

Nice selections, even though I chose a few differently. Am I the only one really surprised that American Beauty is not out on blu yet?

Seriously, why is the Godfather there ? The whole movie is a remastering disaster, with clipped whites, and colors changes that don't match the original film at all. It's an hideous rewriting of the movie history, made to match up the look of the third one. I can forgive that, but clipped whites are no-no. It can't classify as best picture. (sorry if I got the poll wrong)

Haha. I can see how "Best Picture" might've quickly registered in someone's mind as "Best Picture Quality", but half of the movies in the poll should've given away that this isn't about PQ (since they aren't even on Blu-ray).

I cannot believe I am only one of two people to vote A Man For All Seasons over Gump. I just have to assume a lot of people have not seen it. In my opinion it is 100 times the film Gump is. Gump is a great film too though.
