Default The Official Pioneer VSX-1018TX HDMI 1.3 receiver thread

http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/06/p...o-and-dolby-t/

I was a little disappointed last year that Pioneer's 1017 was without HDMI audio support, this makes up for it though!

Quote:
The big news is the VSX-1018TXH-K, with its support for 130 watts over 7.1 channels using a Direct Energy power supply, HDMI upscaling to 1080p, six digital inputs, and support for the lossy Dolby Digital Plus and DTS-HD High Resolution, and lossless Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio codecs.

The VSX-1018TXH-K will come to market in June for $599.

I have the VSX-1016TXH now which I got about a year ago. I wish this was available when I bought that originally. Anyway, this seems like a great entry level receiver that supports all of the new HD audio options. Anyone who doesn't want to spend an extra few hundred bucks on the Elite 91 will be very happy with the 1018's performance for that price.

Damn, $599? Sounds too good to be true. I may hold off now on upgrading my receiver to an Onkyo. I guess a Logitech Harmony 880 will have to satisfy my new tech needs for the time being.

^^^ It looks very nice indeed. Nicer looking than the Onkyo 705. Wonder how the 2 will compare. So it looks like I'll wait till June/July for a new receiver for sure now.

Same here--though I didn't find out until after I bought it. Fortunately, I only had it for a few days before I found out, so I could return it.

Any new word on this receiver? A new receiver is the last thing I need to finish up my HT and this is the one I'm looking to get.

Ken Crane's a pretty reputable dealer. They've been in the business since the laserdisc days. You can however ask them if they are the authorized dealer for Pioneer.

Last I checked at the Ken Cranes in Torrance, CA they were a Pioneer Authorized Dealer. I'll have to stop by when I visit my grandparents next time and ask when thney are getting the 1018s, cause I want one soooooo bad.

Ken Crane's in Torrance said they knew nothing about it. You would think there would be a little more information out there on this thing with the supposed release date only a month away.

I have owned quite a few Pioneer receivers in my time. For the money they are good receivers. However in that price range the Onkyo cannot be beat. If you are thinking of purchasing one in the $600.00 dollar range look no further.

Really? The Onkyo over the Pioneer. The 1018 looks like it will be great for the price. From what I've checked out in the pdf, it looks identical to the 805 except that it's cheaper. And I can plug my ipod straight into the Pioneer.
