PS3 playback problems, certain discs

hey guys,

ughhhhhh. i've been having this problem with my stupid PS3 and
i'm starting to get mad now. certain discs which i have owned for
quite some time don't seem to work anymore. example. - heat. bought
it the first week it came out, watched it once. it's sat on the shelf
for 1-2 years (never touched) so the disc is still new. now i try and
play it, doesn't work anymore.

also american psycho and now the longkiss goodnight. what the hell!
it's like denying me some of my most favorite movies. tried everything.

system restore, delete BD info, turn off 24p, everything is can think
of more or less and nothing. the icon pops up in the PS3 screen for the
movie, click enter, the screen turns black like it's loading (icon in the
corner indicating that it's thinking) then its like an HDMI signal pop and
then back to the main menu telling me cannot play this video and gives me
a number error.

i call sony, but they were useless. i tried the discs on my second PS3 upstairs (first gen fat one) and it works fine.

anyone have any idea? i haven't tried every disc in my collection but i wouldn't be surprised if there were other discs that didn't work!
