They've discovered an antibody that protects against 91% of HIV strains. This is a big day for science. Even bigger in scope considering a vaccine would save millions of lives.

title is misleading, the vaccine is to help kill HIV, not full blown aids nor fully get rid of HIV.

Vaccines are agianst viruses, so only the cancers that are caused by a virus would be prevented by a vaccine.

while its not a cure it looks like its a great step this can help prolong millions of lives and regress pain and suffering.

Sheesh guys... so negative. What about all the magnetic couples in the world that fall in love but can't make love or have kids because one of them is HIV+? A vaccine would make many people happy.

Let me ask my uncle about this. He's an HIV/AIDS researcher for UCLA and goes to the annual AIDS conference. He might have more info.

Well, to be fair, not everyone got it that way.

However, in general - you're correct.

I think the spread of aids (as a primarily sexually transmitted disease), is quite an amazing peek behind the curtain of our morale standards.

Think about it - MILLIONS of people have gotten it - but to do so, you have to change partners - it's quite sickening when you think about it.

So yes, being a little more careful, and a bit more selective could solve the bigger issue of the spread of this disease.

But let's be clear - no one deserves this, no matter what their lifestyle.
