That is good news. I remembering reading that it was being delayed due to "quality issues". Here's hoping the 4-5 month delay yields a very good transfer.

A friend of mine paid like $90 for the DVD version when it came out... Canadian Dollar sucked back then hehe. $50 would not surprise me at all.

I'm kind of worried about buying anime on blu-ray cause I'm not sure how much better the pq is compared to an anime on dvd. You can only remaster something so much ya know. How much better can it get? But I guess that depends on if we're watching classic anime or 'new' anime on dvd.

This anime was produced in 1987 if I recall correctly, I believe it was done on film I don't know what size film stock was used but if it was done on 35mm. that would give it higher resolution than all consumer display technology, That being said the quality of picture you see on a properly calibrated 1920X1080p display may well look perceptibly better than what you might see on the big screen, this is possible because film traveling though the projector suffers from film gate, as each frame moves in front of the light source to be projected each frame moves a little bit out of alignment from other frames before, this causes blurring of the picture. This doesn't happen with well mastered dvd's or blu-ray's because each frame of film is scanned one at a time, any problems in the film stock can be cleaned up inside the computer files. Hope this helps you out on giving it a look they still can do a bad job but it's not likely a film issue Think THE FIFTH ELEMENT before they did the gorgeous remaster the film didn't change the encode did.
