Default Disney trying to gain a foothold in India

Quote:

Walt Disney wants to put on a strong foothold in India by making movies that could charm the Indian audience. The Entertainment monster wants to invest largely in India as it sees great potential for growth here.

Walt Disney to adopt family oriented movies
A company always known for making good movies, Walt Disney is now planning to make movies that caters to the Indian essence.

Walt Disney would be making family oriented movies; that centers on all those family values predominately espoused by the Indian audiences.

The Foreign Investment Board has supposedly given the green signal for Walt Disney to start making movies outside the US.

Earlier the company had tied up with Yashraj films and released an animated film, 'Roadside Romeo'.

Their second Home production ‘Zokkoman’ is still in the making and will be released later this year.

Walt Disney’s Telugu film still to be named
Focused on increasing their brand presence, the company recently decided to venture into south Indian films. Their first project in south India will be a Telugu film.

Walt Disney India which had set up its office in 2004, sees India as its largest market.

The Telugu flick which is yet to be titled has Shruti Hassan and Siddharth in the lead roles. The epic fantasy movie will be directed by Prakash Rao Kovelamudi.

Responding to the question about targeting the Indian market, Walt Disney’s Managing Director, Mahesh Samat, informed that they are pretty serious about India.

The company feels that local content will make their brand more relevant in India and in future Walt Disney studio plans larger investments in Hindi Films.

He stated, “There are a few projects in the regional space as well and we are starting with south India. It is an important market and will help in increasing Disney’s brand presence and relevance throughout India.”

Talking about the content of the movie that the company is focusing on, Mahesh Samat stated, “As we work to build a family entertainment
brand in India, we plan to provide Indian audiences with an unparalleled roster of locally relevant stories and engaging characters and will continue to tap into the local creative ecosystem to develop content which resonates with Indian kids and families."

Currently, Walt Disney is rejoicing with it’s retail market as it has now 10,000 stores; and its business divisions has soared up to 250 divisions.

Mahesh Samat summed up stating, "There is no local or global content, there is just good content. And with figures like 3.6-billion movie admissions, over 350 million kids in the 14-year age group, bigger than the US population, India is a story which has to happen.”

Cool, Bollywood has the biggest amount of films. So, can't wait until they start churning movies out there.
