Default Favorite Anderson? Wes? PTA? Paul Anderson?

Quote:

Wes Anderson
Top Collaborators:
Bill Murray, Owen Wilson (They've been all of his films except one. Owen wrote Rushmore but wasn't in it and Murray wasn't in Bottle Rocket)
Team Wes:
Seymour Cassel, Willem Dafoe, Kumar Pallana, Jason Schwartzman, Luke Wilson, Andrew Wilson, Anjelica Huston

Paul Thomas Anderson
Top Collaborators:
Phillip Baker Hall, Phillip Seymour Hoffman
Team PTA:
Luis Guzman, Melora Walters, John C. Reily, Mary Lynn Rajskub, William H. Macy, Thomas Jane

Paul W.S. Anderson
Top Collaborators:
Jason Issacs, Milla Jovovich
Team Paul:
Robin Shou, Colin Salmon, Linden Ashby
Personally my favorite out of the 3 is Wes Anderson. I've loved all of his films, I love his characters who are quirky oddballs that everyone can relate too, his choice of music is great, his sets and eye for fantastic cinematography, his excellent writing, and sense of humor just appeal to me. He manages to capture sadness and humor at the same time and give us a very original story. And he also influenced me to some classic directors like Jaques Tati and Sajitvay Ray. Rushmore is an absolutely favorite of mine because it reminded me of this time where I did have a crush on a teacher in my school as well.

PTA, I think he's a good director but sometimes his movies usually tend to have a slow pace. I didn't care for Boogie Nights that much and There Will Be Blood was heavily focused on DDL's performance. Didn't care much for the story there. Magnolia though I thought was wonderful.

Paul W.S. Anderson, I absolutely hate the guy. Dude's a horrible director imo.

I pick Paul Thomas Anderson, because I like his films the best out of the bunch, and they seem more dramatic. (At least more is usually at stake.) They remind me of Scorsese, in a way.

The only Wes Anderson picture I liked so far is The Royal Tenebaums.

I always get him confused with his brother Luke, who was in the movie.

Paul W.S. Anderson needs to GTFO! Seriously. Shopping, Mortal Kombat, and Event Horizon were all fun but after Event Horizon, everything seemed to suck.

I keep forgetting Luke was in that. Andrew's more notable in that.

That movie is hilarious, I couldn't stop laughing when their taking out the pirates with Devo playing in the background.

agreed 100% on PTA

-2 of PTA's films are among my top 100 of all-time: TWBB and Magnolia

-WA's films are ok, but I wouldn't consider any of them great

-Paul WS??? seriously???

I thought the score drove the film aside from DDL's performance.

Great question (although we could have done without choice number three). I'm torn as I really like both directors. I think as a body of work I would go for Wes, but as a singular film I'm tempted to go with PTA for Magnolia.

Score was decent even though it was by Johnny Greenwood. I wasn't too fond of it. Cinematography was alright. It's really not a stand out film. Had it been a lesser actor the film wouldn't be have been as strong as it was.

and a little support for Wes, Wes did show he can push his boundaries by making a stop motion flick. He even acted out the scenes for the animators.

Although I give TWBB more props than you do, you are right on about Wes' Fox, that film was really fun to watch.

I'd definitely go with PTA as well.

Boogie Nights, Magnolia and TWBB are all really excellent movies. I'm a big fan of Punch Drunk Love as well.
