Of that list I only saw Super Mario Bros at the cinema.

I thought there would be others though...? Didn't Williow (1988) bomb?

It didn't bomb, but it was a disappointment. It made $57 million in the US on a budget of $35 million. George Lucas was expecting a hit the size of E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial.

That's a long list of bombs. I haven't gone to the theater nearly as often in the past 10 years and I did prior. Time to start counting...

Keeping in mind this is wikipedia, so the inclusion of some of the movies on this list is very arbitrary. But of this particular list, looks like I saw 57 in the theater (though a couple of them I'm not completely sure if I saw it in the theater first or on home video), and actually liked many of them, box office be damned!

Cutthroat Island
Sahara
The 13th Warrior
Stealth
Green Lantern

The Black Cauldron
The list seems a bit arbitrary, as it's piling big-budget losses with low-budget losses, and the bad-breaks with the never-had-a-chances--
Still, it's embarrassing to see that half the list I've seen on video (caught the rare 3D version of Nutcracker on Vudu, and even tracked down a rare Russian copy of "The Blue Bird" on DVD), but can't admit to a theater.

And as for how many times I'd seen Krull and Santa Claus:TM in the theaters, well...

The Stupids wasn't "regrettable" if you knew it was based on a children's picture book, which the script imitated fairly well. Most, oddly, didn't know that at the time. Reading is fundamental.
(It was "regrettable", however, that John Landis had gone plain off his barking nut during the 90's. )

Suprisingly i've only seen 2 'bombs' and i actually enjoyed them, particularly Scott Pilgrim vs The World. Green Lantern being the other which although bad was still a watchable flick.

It's actually funny, cause reading over that list, can anybody spot how many 'cult' followings some now seem to have. Jack Frost is like now an essential Christmas movie or at least that was the way it was throughout my childhood and still kicking to a degree.

Some of those might have 'bombed' but they're by no means bad movies. Take Epic Movie as an example. The worst bunch a crap movies Hollywood churns out but somehow despite every single critical panning, they seemed to do better than much more worthy comedies, particularly those coming out of England etc. Seems like Hollywood only manages to polish turds and make more money than they should

41 and there are a few on there that I wouldn't consider bombs, just poor performers. Quite a few on that list that I gladly have in my collection as well.

Well....no, let's not. "Speed Racer", maybe, "The Alamo" or "Sorcerer".

(One of which was killed by bad scheduling, one by guilt-by-association and bad early press, and the other by dopey audiences and the wrong season.)

You think Epic Movie isn't worse than Speed Racer? I'd rather watch Speed Racer than Epic Movie and come to think of it, i'm now not sure but i actually think i also watched that in theatres, so my counts up to 3:

Green Lantern
Scott Pilgrim vs The World
Speed Racer

Anyone notice how so many movie terms are based on war/military? A movie "bombs". A movie that does good is a "block-buster"

John Carter - sort of deserved to bomb

Green Lantern - Deserved to bomb

Driven - Definitely deserved to bomb

Speed Racer - Didn't deserve to bomb. Will be a cult classic

Didn't know John Carter was on the list, guess i'm up to 4

I don't think Speed Racer will become a cult classic, just doesn't have the 'pizazz' i'd usually associate with such a thing. I think those top 2 although bombs, i'd watch. John Carter and Scott Pilgrim are my two most liked on that list and i couldn't care less if they were 'bombs'. Green Lantern, i can tell why that 'bombed' as well as Speed Racer to a degree.

Even though it is considered a box office bomb, I actually loved Speed Racer.

Also, I hated Scott Pilgrim in the theater but now it is one of my favorite movies...go figure.
