Default Your country needs you! (UK BDs vs. US imports)

I'm from the Uk, At the moment i'm buying Blu Rays from the US & the UK. I've been importing Bd from the US using movietyme.com. I want to support the UK market but when films come out in the US faster & cheaper its too tempting just to import them. 300, Apocalypto & the Shooter have all come out in the US before the Uk & at least £5-6 cheaper as well. this week i thought i'd support the UK market & get Starship Troopers. I got it for £23.99 from play.com in the UK. I had to laugh when i was looking at US releases on Movietyme who operate out of Philadelphia & their selling the Uk release for £19.99! I'm better off just importing from the US untill the UK suppliers stop taking the piss out of the British consumer.

In the early days of dvd i imported all my horror films from the US. In the UK we had scissor happy censors that use to hack up any film they took offence to. It's not quite as bad now with BD, its just a case of economics why pay more & wait longer when i can import rather than support the UK market.

When I'm not importing from Movietyme I tend to get mine either from blahdvd, DVD.co.uk and I use Quidco to get extra money off (highly recommend that by the way), usually 5%. I've never bought from the highstreet.. it's just crazy prices all round for now. Also worth a try is both Choices online and Asda online too.. sometimes they surprise you with a bargain or two. Also while I remember, go check out the prices through somewhere like find-dvd.co.uk who have now started to put Blu-rays on the site for price checks.

Axelmusic.com is pretty good, they have screen shots of the back of the disc so you can check for ABC

As a British guy, can I just say that America rocks!

You also get far better value for money in the US than in the UK when it comes to electrical goods and media.

Let's not forget our obsession with American Idol, crappy reality tv, trashy talk shows like Springer and Maury(seriously how many shows can be made about people sleeping with transvestites, marrying/sleeping with cousins and who the baby daddy is), and our obsession with drugged out, whiny, hypocritical, self absorbed actors/actresses. Who gives a rats ass what sluts like Paris Hilton, Brittney Spears, Nicole Richie, Lindsay Lohan, etc. do? That's on top of a poor health care system, rampant unemployment, and homelessness.
