United Kingdom Breathe In (2013) Blu-Ray

I found no previous thread so I am opening this thread for discussion of "Breath In" Blu-Ray. British distributors Curzon Film World, Artificial Eye's sister label, brought director Drake Doremus' drama Breathe In (2013) to Blu-ray , starring Guy Pearce, Felicity Jones, Amy Ryan, and Kyle MacLachlan. It has a very solid review by Dr. Svet Atanasov. Please click the below picture for info and review.

I have yet to see this movie. My bd is on its way. I will update this thread after watching the movie. In the mean time those who have seen this movie please share your thoughts without spoiling anything.

I want to see this one. Watched Doremus' Like Crazy yesterday and enjoyed it, but did find Felicity Jones to be the weakest part.

Hopefully he used more professional equipment for this movie though to ensure better A/V than Like Crazy (which was filmed with a Canon EOD 7).

It's good. Not amazing. Great performances and soundtrack. Must see if you like Felicity Jones of course.

I think he did because the PQ and AQ have a great review here.

Received my pre-order from Base this week. I enjoyed it immensely partly because of the setting and what it deals with on one level and also as a person growing older thinking of what might have been and can I escape the shackles of society.

And needless to say I do very much like Felicity Jones. Her portrayal of Sophie fit's her like a glove. It's a remarkable progression watching her as a teenager on CITV in The Worst Witch to where she is now.

One thing about these Curzon Film World blu's they do seem inconsistent in their spines. A Late Quartet has the age classification under the blu ray symbol on the spine whereas Breathe In has two above a blu ray symbol on it's spine.

Just an extremely minor gripe. And both PQ and AQ are top notch. I wouldn't have minded a couple more featurettes though.

Same here. I watched this movie last night with my wife and we both enjoyed it a lot. I love the overall feel of the movie. All the actors did tremendous acting. I cant praise enough the scenes between Guy Pierce and Felicity Jones. I can watch this movie hundred of times. What a beautiful wonderful movie. I also love the fact that there is no overly dramatic music in this movie and we just hear very beautiful piano notes and some outstanding cello which is well matched with the atmosphere of the movie. The ending is also outstanding.

[Show spoiler]Its sad but it has to end like this and I also wanted to see it end this way. I feel very very bad for Felicity Jones character but Guy Pierce's character did what he should have and I feel very sad for both of them!
The Blu-ray quality is outstanding. The only drawback is that there are no English subs and also there are no Extras apart from the trailer and a short interview.

However, I can say this without any hesitation that I have seen hundred of films this year but this is easily the best film of 2013 I have seen this year. I wish they make more movies like this one.

Big big thanks to Pro-B for recommending this movie. I am glad that I watched this on blu and is now part of my permanent collection. Like I said I can watch this movie again and again. Once again thanks a lot Pro-B

Guy Pearce is a truly great actor. Can't think of many other actors that make characters interesting rather than take the easy way out and just use the stereotypical overacting method, like the current Christian Bale.
[Show spoiler]He's also a way better singer than bloody Hugh Jackman. I've seen Pearce sing live.

I have no offense with Christian Bale or Hugh Jackman but yes Guy Pearce is a highly talented actor.

I'm glad I didn't completely write off Doremus after Like Crazy and decided to pick this up after pro-b's review. He's definitely got a ways to go in finding a sense of originality in his work, but this is a much more accomplished film than Like Crazy, which I nearly detest.
