Default toslink door covers

Hi folks - having a hard time tracking this one down.

I have an Onkyo 702 and two or three of the little black plastic covers that keep the toslink/optical ports closed when not in use have broken.

There are two little pins that stick out of the plastic to keep it hinged and connected.

Does anyone know where to get a part like this? I don't even mind buying the whole little assembly, and just pulling that part off.

Never seen that part before. Plus that may be real hard to try and fix.

My 2 quick and easy solutions would be:

1)cover the port with tape
2)get a cheap toslink cable or borken one, cut the ends off and stick them in the port and leave them there.

Both will probalby suffice unless you are constantly plugging and unplugging optical cabels into the ports.

Is there a Radio Shack near you? I'm not sure if that's a west coast only store or not. They have them though.

It won't hurt to leave them out...

Should have added one more detail - sorry, the issue is when I plug a cable in the little door would fold up and keep the connection tight, and without the door - the cable is loose.

Maybe I just need to look for a different cable type....

ah,,,that does change the story. I'm wondering if you wrap a little piece of tape around the connector before inserting it, then it might make a tighter fit for it to stay in. This will probably only be feasible if you don't plan on unplugging it and plugging it back in over and over.

I've ran into that before, and tape works well. I'd recommend getting some of the thread tape they use for plumbing, very thin stretchy white non-adhesive tape. I think it's made from teflon, great stuff
