Default The my boss thread.

hey,

So my job requires a study based on investments that my company made. All I have to do (my Dept. consists of 4 people) is deliver the good and or bad news.

Of course most likely it will be a bad news thanks to this economy that we have

Since its my job to deliver the news (either good or bad) my boss is always mad.

Last time my Dept. delivered a bad news, she (The boss ) told us that we don't deserve a bonus.

I told another member that I am about to throw a Burrito at her for christmas.

So,

what about your boss?

Is he/she a jerk as well?

My boss and her boss (both females) are absolutely terrific! As long as I do my job I pretty much have carte blanche in how I structure my day, week and what I want to focus on.

My boss is a corp. monkey. He goes by the book on everything!!!

My unit handles p!ssed off callers, we make the callbacks when they want to “talk to someone higher up.”

So it’s a high stress job as well. To blow off steam, we sometimes get carried away w/talking to each other.

Some days he’s fine, others it’s like it’s he’s on his man period.

And the worst part is he only addresses issues if another supervisor says something to him. So it’s so hard to read him and know how he’s going to react.

Basically, he doesn’t know how to be a supervisor…..but the same can be said for any supervisor in this place.

My boss is a stuckup B(word), and I mean that literally.

Don't care what she says, about to deliver the bad news.

Its lame,

I don't blame her though, considering the line of work I am in.

I am about to play nice John.

I love my boss, he's the best. I can come in late or not at all, and don't even have to call in. He gives me all the vacation time I want and if I'm a little light one week he'll float me a loan from Petty Cash until everything evens out.

I recently came back from a Mine I worked at for almost 5 years. I found out that my Ex Supervisor is on “the outs” there soon. It sounds like he’s being phased out. It kinda sucks cause I considered him one of the better ones I’ve ever had. Yes, he can rub people the wrong way. He and I had a couple dust ups, but in my experience, those are occassionally needed. I find that when I assert myself, supervisors are leery of starting anything with me. As long as I do my job well, which I do.
It seems the workers that are responsible for the mutiny, are the “quiet types” that don’t assert themselves well. I imagine stuff built up until it couldn’t be tolerated anymore and they acted together to start moving him towards the door.
It’s too bad. I think it’ll be a loss for them. There’s three qualities I feel are vital for a boss and he had them:

1. Know what you want. It’ll be easier for me to get it done if I know what’s required.
2. Tell me what’s needed in a respectful way. I don’t need kid-gloves, but absolutely need respect.
3. A sense of humour. That lightens things up when needed. It’s great when pressure is involved, for it relieves some of that.

Although this doesn’t affect me job-wise right now, I still feel sorta sad about this. He was a great boss and I think stuff should’ve been worked out before it got to this.

I'm transitioning between bosses right now. For almost a decade I was a rehab technician which is a fancy label for someone who assists with physical therapy treatments and is also an office manager. My wife was my boss for all those years, and she was a great boss at work (and I was a great boss at home ) Then the company that I worked for eliminated my position company wide. The nursing home that I was working in did not want to lose me, so they immediately offered me a position working directly for them (therapy is a contracted service.) For the past six months I have been assisting the Director of Nursing with organization, scheduling, etc. Being her right and sometimes left hand too basically. She's an awesome person to work for. Gives me totally flexible scheduling and always complimentary for a job well done.

The therapy company that fired me has since lost lost their contract with the nursing home, and the new company that will be coming in in May has already offered me my old position back.... so my wife will be my boss once again

at my relatively new job (2 1/2 months in) my boss has been pretty cool so far. maybe because i haven't effed anything up yet she's cool with me but she's nice, but fair. which is what a boss needs to be.

my third day, while still learning the machines and projects, the people i was working with (who have all been there for at least 3 years) made an error and the 355 pieces of material we had made were all wrong. boy, did she rip into them! that made me a little hesitant of her, but then again, if i was in her shoes and long time employees made an overly obvious error i would be pretty pissed too.

now... previous bosses... oh boy lol i could go on for days. just thinking about my last boss makes my blood pressure rise!

The word boss as such is non-existent now.
Maybe manager?
