I think I'm on the right track with solving my problems, but I wanted other opinions to make sure...
I just bought Batman Begins last night and when I went home to play it, the movie wouldn't play. It would show the Piracy Warning, then the initial WB screen with the surround sound test, then give me the MPAA Rating screen, then a loading screen with a bar moving across the bottom. When this would finish it would give me a second loading screen with a disk spinning in the middle of the screen. When this would finish it would start to play the movie, but 1-2 seconds after it would start to show the camera panning over the WB studio for their logo, the player itself would restart (power off and back on) and begin the whole process again. Now I'm pretty sure that updating my Firmware will solve this (I have yet to update it at all since purchase) but I'd like to know what everyone thinks. Any help is much appreciated. |

Well it worked
![]() I downloaded v3.95, burned it as an image to a CD-R, installed it and worked perfectly. Thanks for the help! |

I have the exact same "loading" issues as Beor above, with an s500. It happened last night with bd Batman Begins, and has happened before with some, but not all, bd's. I'm a novice generally, re, bd players, and I don't understand the resolution bluerodent explained above. Do I have to download and burn upgrades myself, or will Sony Style resolve this problem if I speak to someone at the store?

My windoze machine is down now so I'm using the wife's Mac and have to order the update disks for both of my players. |

Thanks, Diverspear. I just ordered the update. Actually, there is an even more recent one, v. 5.00, as opposed to v. 3.75.

I'm brand new to Hi Def TVs and Blu Ray, but in preparation for my new TV and Blu Ray player getting to my house, I've been stocking up on Blu Ray discs.
I set up my new TV (a Samsung LN46B750 46-Inch 1080p 240 Hz LCD HDTV) and my new Blu Ray player (an LG BD 370) tonight with high expectations. But it's been a tricky night for a non-technophile. Several of the Blu Rays I've tried play fine--these are CONSTANTINE, KINGDOM OF HEAVEN, and SPY GAME. So far, though, the player (or the TV? or both?) don't seem to recognize two discs I've tried: BATMAN BEGINS and OCEAN'S ELEVEN. A 40% failure rate for new-out-of-the-package blu-ray discs seems suspiciously high to me. Am I liable to be dealing with a firmware update issue? I'd hugely appreciate any insights. Thanks. |

The first thing to look at is firmware. Just because a player is new doesn't mean it has the latest firmware, who knows how many months it's been sitting in a warehouse.
