Cool Best PS3 game to date?

I just got my PS3, mostly for Blu-ray playback. That and the eventual release of games like Metal Gear Solid, and Final Fantasy 13.
But until those come out, what are the best games out there right now?
It is my birthday next month and I was hoping to ask some people for a game or 2, but I want to know what games are worth it.

Sorry if this is a repeat post, there is just so much on here and the reviews I read at RottenTomatoes don't look good for anything on PS3.

yeah I only own 3 games, tried a few demos, RFOM takes the cake. If I got more used to it, Ninja gaiden sigma would prob. beat out COD3. while still kinda cool, Marvel:UA is def. at the bottom of the games i own.

BRING ON CITY OF HEROES.........

Definitely Oblivion. Intense RPG with endless options. Very different style than final fantasy, my fav series, but still fun. Extremely open ended, free to do almost anything. Will keep you occupied for over 100 hours, you get your $60 worth.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma would be my second recomendation. A difficult action game, not a button masher. Fast paced combat system and great graphics.

I own both of these games and couldn't be happier.

I LOVE City of Heroes!
I play a number of characters on there! It would be cool if it came out to PS3 or something, but then again i can just hook up my pc to my new TV and play it in all it's 1080p 46" glory!
My global is @cptgreedle, feel free to look me up sometime.

Best PlayStation Store game to date: Super Stardust HD!

Closely followed by Calling All Cars! and Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection.

Tekken 5 DR's going online by the end of the year too.

Rainbow Six Vegas...

It has only been out for a week and a half, but the gameplay is awesome. Plenty of strategy as this is not the kind of game where you can just run around and shoot people with no regard for your health meter.

The downside are the bugs in the online play. These have been well documented and will improve in time.

The other recommendation is RFOM, but this game has been out for so long that the only part you will enjoy is the campaign mode as most players in the online game are supreme commanders and are very skilled.

I second Oblivion - basically do what you want when you want to do it. RB6 is second for me.

Rainbow Six Vegas.

If you don't own it you're wrong.

Resistance is the best I've played but I haven't played much...stay away from Spiderman 3, that game was really bad!

Fight night round 3 is a really good boxing game that I enjoy playing a lot, offline and online. Unfortunately, like all EA games, it suffers from the loading times.

resistance for sure, followed by, for me, rainbow six vegas, although I have only played the demo of ninja gaiden, and it could def compete for a top spot.

the graphics in r6: vegas were not very impressive to me, but gameplay is very fun

Awesome feedback. Thanks a lot!
Do any of these games run in 1080? or are all PS3 games currently in 720 only?

Some run in 1080p, I think Ninja Gaiden Sigma does.

Default ???? Oblivion Cant Be Touched!!!!!!!!

Ok i respect all of your decisions out there, but sorry: OBLIVION CANNOT BE TOUCHED ON THE PS3 SYSTEM. Let me explain why. I've never been an RPG fan, I hated them my whole life. I only rented Oblivion because www.gamesport.com gave it a 9.6 (highest of any PS3 game btw). When I played it, I was blown away, and you will be too. Rent it. You'll own it days later, and be up many nights and mornings till 6am like me , hearing the birds chirping as you go to bed....you know what, on second thought, think twice before buying it for that reason

Resistance easy, i dont even like First person shooter games but it got me hooked, muiltiplyer is amazing, just kill the opponents, tea bag there corpse, and hear them cry over the headset.
