I will be looking forward to the reviews....although they are nice, I wasn't too impressed with the improvements, at least for my needs. 3D still seems like another year or 2 away from being a legitimate selling point.

Usually not. That is the best time to get last years model's though. I got my SC-05 last summer for just $700 from 6th Ave. However, the SC-09 model has not been changed or updated for some time now. So, that price may not change much......

Good find!! I'm looking forward to the release of the new Elite line-up. I've always liked the features, performance, and looks of the Elite receivers.

Like a few others though, I plan on sitting on the sidelines in regards to 3D, as I think the technology will be updated rather rapidly.

Also, looking forward to see some of the new 3D demos from various cable programmers in May when I head out to LA for the Cable Show.

How are Pioneer receivers? Reliable? I'm thinking of just dumping my Onkyo 606 (instead of getting it repaired) and buying one of these.

Pioneer makes great receivers IMO. This is going to be a very generalized reply, but their non-Elites are very solid receivers, capable of doing everything and then some over your current 606. Once you get to the Elites, you have yourself an amazing AVR. One of the more powerful AVR's out there and true to spec, MCACC calibration set-up is excellent with tons of tweaks available and every bit as good as Audyessey IMO and lots of other bells and whistles (like many HDMI and component inputs, multiple outputs, other capabilities, etc...). If you purchase a Pioneer receiver, you should be a very happy camper.

If you don't care about 3D then there's really no need to upgrade to the new elites.

I still haven't gotten the current one's. Damn job.

Every yr your receiver or TV is obsolete.. How encouraging for beginners.. My 1800 can only do 1.3.. Now we are at 1.4.. How about 1.5 next yr.. It's getting silly..

Same can be said of almost any part of a home theatre system. The only part of my system that's kept up with change for more than a year or two is my PS3. And even in that case I'm probably going to upgrade to an Oppo 83 for a Blu-Ray player very soon and leave my PS3 strictly for gaming.

That is why I just say to myself when I buy a new component it must last 3-5 years before I upgrade. It also helps to keep the marriage together.

It's almost impossible to keep up with the newest models without going bankrupt or crazy or both. I don't even worry about trying.

Lucky you. I'm single so I don't have anyone to nag me into fiscal responsibility!

I'm thinking seriously about picking up the VSX-1120-K when it comes out in June/July. here's a pic of the connections:

vsx-1120_rear_callouts.jpg

The feature set is killer for $749 MSRP.

But I'm also curious to see what the new Elites will have.
