I thought that they had gotten rid of that big thing...that's weird...not like I'm getting one anyway, but still.

I'm fairly convinced that there'll be a PSThree. The PS3 slim has already been getting internally slimmer since launch (smaller chips, etc). They'll have the external power brick and as soon as we get a 32nm Cell/RSX I feel we'll have a real PS3 slim, maybe with internal flash drive instead of HDD for increased awesomeness.

Ha, I can't wait for the next installment, whether it be PS4 or PS3 v 3.0. The tech inside of these consoles are getting awesome!

I like that M$ has made some improvements, such as built-in wi-fi, but I see no need to replace the Elite console I already own.

I remember Max also mentioning that a Superslim could happen in 2011 or 2012. I would likely get one then; for now, as long as it's working, I'll use my phat PS3.

For a while I was determined to get a new slim so I could see DTS HDMA and Dolby TrueHD lights on my receiver, but I could never find one in stock at the time. I'm kinda glad now. My phat model is working just fine. I might look into it again when the next new version comes out.

Microsoft really needs to get a better engineering team building their consoles. I don't get why they still haven't managed to get the power supply unit inside the console.

Can you imagine the problems that Microsoft would have with having to extend the warranty to 17 years because they made the mistake of putting a power brick {which heats up as well} into something that's known for overheating?

Their engineers just aren't that good.

And is that really the size difference between the controllers? Microsoft really needs to release a 'slim' controller.

why fix something that aint broke? one of the complaints of those who favor the 360 controller is that the ps3 controller is too small.

Too small for a Wookie.

But for regular people it's awesome.

The 360 controller is nothing like the original Xbox controller though, that thing was massive.

you would think that they would have replaced them all by now though. i am surprised they still have the power brick

From what I've been hearing the new slimline heats up on the vent, putting a power brick in there that heats up as well would probably be console suicide.

There'd be RRoD's as soon as you plugged the console in.

what i meant was that they should have replaced all thier engineers by now that screwed up designing it in the first place and could have come up with a way to eliminate the brick with the new model. maybe they didnt resolve the heat issue entirely and just worked around it enabling better ventilation. both my consoles get pretty warm.

Why would they have replaced those folks?

That would have eliminated at least a year {or two} of Microsoft denying that there was any issue at all and the hilarity that ensued with a 3 year extended warranty.
