Default PS3 Questions

I have tried some searching through the forums about the questions I have with little success. So I decided to start a thread. My questions are what are the best Blu-Ray settings for the PS3? I have my PS3 hooked up HDMI to my TV. I'm assuming all of my settings are "stock" because I have not messed with any of them. If specifics are needed about my setup I can post them. One slight thing I've noticed now when watching a couple of Blu-Ray's (300,Planet Earth) I have noticed some blinking or flashing in certain parts of these discs. Has anyone else seen this? The reason I ask is because maybe there is some setting or something I don't know about in the PS3 that might help with this? If this is normal than ohhwell it is not that big of a deal. Any help or insight on this is much appreciated and as always TIA.

Not to be a smart @$$, but if you have searched about the blinking on the Warners titles you mentioned, you would have found that people (including myself) have noticed this, too.

Nothing you can do, it's something wrong on WB's end, not yours. Just wondering, what are some search terms you've tried. I just ask because this is I think the third time I've spoken about this on 300, once when I brought it up, and once yesterday. We may have to put up a sticky on this if there isn't one.

On another note, what kind of Klipsch speakers do you have, and what receiver do you have them hooked into?

Personally, with those speakers, i would upgrade the reciever! youre not getting enough juice through them bad boys.

...since optical is your only choice, you will need to set the ps3 to output optical...

Settings - Sound Settings - Audio Output Settings - select Digital Out (Optical)

then...

Settings - BD/DVD Settings - BD Audio Output Format (Optical Digital) - set to Bitstream

any recommendations as to a new receiver? Don't necessarily want to spend a fortune I bought it a couple of years ago and I really don't mind moving this receiver to my room. also any recommendations on video settings for the PS3? I think I just have it on the automatic HDMI setting.

...if you like Yamaha's, this would do your set-up justice...

Yamaha RX-V661

7.1 Uncompressed PCM...High definition audio! (Uncompressed PCM, Dolby TrueHD, and hopefully soon with the ps3 DTS-HD Master)
also can matrix 5.1 PCM into 7.1

well your screen resolution is 1366x768...which is closest to 720p..your tv may accept 1080i but will downscale to fit...720p is a definite for games, 1080i may look slightly better for movies, try messing with 720p and 1080i for movies, see which you prefer? if you have no need for 1080i (dont notice any difference) than you can turn it completely off...
