Default Amazon.UK

I just ordered some wicked deals from the site.

I got Bourne Trilogy, Spiderman Trilogy, Highlander and The Island.

Total price: $91 CAD including shipping.

There might be some duty to pay but worst case about $10-12. Still an amazing deal.

Check it out!

i actually got the UK (Region Free) Blu-rays of Let The Right One In and Once for $31 CAD shipped a couple of weeks ago. plus, their standard shipping was lightning-fast (3 days, maybe) to Quebec.

i'm definitely keeping an eye on their prices now.

Will the extras work on band of brothers?
Also, when I went to checkout I noticed Once and Band of Brothers both dropped in price. Once by £1 and Band of Brothers by Several £'s. What's the reason for this?

I had great success with Amazon.co.uk. I ordered:

- Matrix Trilogy
- Band of Brothers
- Godfather Trilogy
- Snatch

In total it came out to about $100 after shipping, exchange rate, and duty. Ridiculous savings compared to anything in the US OR Canada...

The prices on Amazon UK include what's called "VAT", which is basically a resident tax; if you're shipping address is outside the UK, they remove it from the price tag and the price drops -- for us in North America, anyway.

Customs/duty charges are hit-and-miss with AMZ UK shipments; I had two identical orders and one got nailed with an $8 customs charge and was stuck at Customs for 2 weeks -- the other did not.

Yeah, amazon.co.uk can be great for deals. My most recent order:

$9.51 for Apocalypto
$6.87 for Beowulf & Grendel
$23.43 for The Matrix trilogy
$13.75 for Zulu (not even out in North America)

+ $10.50 in shipping for a total of $64.06 or $10.68 per movie.

VAT is dropped for both U.S. & Canadian orders. To compute the VAT-free price, divide the advertised price by 1.175; VAT is 17.5% of the VAT-free price.

Customs is an issue for Canada because their duty-free exemption is only C$20 per day and they collect sales taxes (GST/PST/HST) as well as actual duty. U.S. Customs, however, does NOT collect sales taxes at the border; their duty-free exemption is US$200 per day on mail shipments (Amazon UK's usual method). Thus, customs is usually NOT an issue south of the 49th parallel, though it may be if you use expedited shipping.

Amazon.co.uk have a "Spring Deals" sale on right now.

Some examples:

Bourne trilogy: $24.88
Mummy trilogy: $25.57
Planet Earth: $25.57
Dirty Harry 1-5: $36.66
Harry Potter 1-6: $46.91
Fast & Furious 1-4: $52.53

I don't know how good those prices are compared to domestic. They are just some box sets that caught my eye that seemed cheap. There's five pages total in the sale.

And there's also a 2 for $21 sale.
