WHOA WHOA WHOA!!!! First the announcement of 'The Quiet Earth' and now THIS?!!! Did someone peaked in my wishful thinking list?
Had a thing for Hugh when it was out at the theater but didn't get a chance to check it out until it was released for rental on VHS. Didn't know it was so outrageous and finally made the connection with Ken Russell being the same the director who did 'Crimes of Passion', 'Lady Chatterley', 'Gothic' and 'Salome's Last Dance' Awesome movie, fun/funny, brutal, mean. |

I agree with you..these Vestron titles don't do much for me especially Parents and Ken Russell has always been bigger on the other side of the pond..but I will buy to support Vestron/Lionsgate and the hopes that other more desired releases make it to retail. Happy for those Russell fanatics but always thought he was a bit over-rated.

This and Parents are fantastic additions to the Vestron line.
White Worm being this quirky gothic dark comedy horror on acid and Parents being the nastiest Lynchian suburban nightmare Lynch himself never made. Really excited for both, personally. |

Seems like they're going to throw at least one quirky comedy/horror in with every batch, which is fine since it'll mean $30 I can put towards something else. Horror comedies are extremely difficult to pull off - it's only been done successfully a handful of times, so it's a subgenre I'm not terribly fond of, but when it's done right it can be a lot of fun. Quirky for quirkiness' sake is usually a chore to get through

Seeing as that other guy hasn't actually seen White Worm and has no informed opinion of the film, I will throw in my two cents. I have seen White Worm several times. The thing you have to remember about it is that it is very British in its application of dry, tongue-in-cheek humour. Approach it as a straightforward horror film and it's "okay", approach it as the dark comedy that it is and it's a blast.

If you ask me, we really don't enter that territory until we get to those indie/Sundance Festival movies, which are usually uber quirky for the sake of being quirky.
Mumblecore shit and the like. Perhaps that's why I absolutely cannot stand Ti West's directorial style. Blood Diner, as silly and somewhat obnoxious as it got, was more in the vein of Troma than the Duplass Bros. |

Had streamed it this summer (think thru Amazon Prime) and had a blast watching it. Picture looked good. Hope they do a good job with the blu ray. Would love to see those outrageous colors on a good transfer blu ray.
