Thumbs up Onkyo

I'm drooling over the new 608. I'm hoping I can get my hands on one soon.

My 805 still has a good 10 years of usage left in it before I'll consider it outdated. Great receiver.

Unless of course you want 3D then it is a paperweight just like the receiver I have. And I feel the same way aobut my receiver.

it does seem like just a few months compared to how long the 06s were the newest models, but i guess it just seems that way...

There was a Japanese magazine my wife have that had an Onkyo PC system. Interesting to mention about this.

Is it really just a paperweight? Won't an HDMI splitter (not a switcher) placed between the player and the receiver do the trick?

Probably not. I'm guessing the receiver won't be able to reconcile the video portion of the HDMI signal.

the new Panasonic 3D Bluray players will have two HDMI outs for you to be able to use a new 3D TV with an older non 3D HDMI receiver...so the Onkyo 805 will not be a paperweight...
