Default The Stoning of Saraya M--anyone?

Is anyone getting this film? I had never heard of it until very recently. Looks very interesting

The other question is, why the heck does it cost so much on Amazon?

I'll probably get it soon. I do like the actress playing Saraya--she's very talented. And brave!

Very sad movie. Not an easy movie to watch emotionally. I dont mean that in a bad way, its a movie that will stay with you for a while.

Just watched the new Blu-ray release. It's a very powerful film but the actual stoning sequence is terribly difficult to watch. I'm glad to have seen it but I don't know whether I'll have the desire to watch it many times.

The technical quality for the film is very good, but unfortunately the "Making Of" featurette has been miscoded so that, although shot in SD widescreen, it is displayed in an incorrect 4:3 aspect ratio with the image horizontally squeezed. It seems they forgot to set the anamorphic flag. I hope Lions Gate will acknowledge this blunder and get it corrected, as the featurette is quite interesting.

Hopefully the price drops to a reasonable amount in a couple of months!!! I'd be interested to get it too but not at the current price.

I don't know if I'm emotionally prepared to see the graphic depiction of a woman being stoned to death.

I watched it last week. I thought it was a powerful film to watch. Though...its sad because of why the stoning happened. I shall say no more.

MPEG2? Why would Lionsgate suddenly do that at this point in time?

Edit: and only DD5.1 for a brand new movie. Someone dropped the ball on this one. I'm interested, but I'm sure as heck not going the reward such laziness by paying $20+ let alone $30+. Who has the UK rights to this?

As I mentioned above, Lionsgate (or their authoring house) have also messed up the "Making Of" featurette by apparently failing to set the anamorphic flag, so that it plays in a squeezed 4:3 ratio. All in all, technically a disappointing release, especially for a film that will have to depend on DVD and Blu-ray to find an audience.
