Default Vinegar Syndrome Opening Canadian Website in Canadian Currency

I saw this on their shipping FAQ, I'm not sure I've heard of this before;

Do you have a Canadian presence?
Yes, Vinegar Syndrome has a Canadian subsidiary that is based in Toronto. In early 2021, we will be launching a Canadian website so that Canadian customers can pay with their local currency.

Canadian orders ship from Toronto without any customs duties.

I obviously knew of the subsidiary, but it's cool to have an actual Canadian edition of the VS website.

Wonder if this means we’ll be paying taxes on future orders? That’s fine by me, as long as their pricing doesn’t change

Oh man. I hadn’t considered that.

I read somewhere that the CDN prices listed on the site do include taxes, but honestly can't remember where this was or if it was accurate. So yeah, could be a mixed blessing.

If the subsidiary is UV, then would that mean they would carry the VS special editions and have slips? Currently they do not. Plus, UV takes way, way (wayyyyyyy) longer to ship than VS, so I'm not sure I'd order through them. Not to mention that most VS titles through UV ar above $40 CAD.

I don't think the subsidiary is UV. My understanding is they have a distribution centre in/near Toronto and that's what they are referring to. The difference now is when you purchase something through their site from Canada, even though the prices are listed in CDN dollars they still have to be converted back to US for billing and payment. Presumably if they have an actual Canadian website that conversion won't be necessary, hence the statement about Canadian customers paying in local currency. Otherwise I assume it's business as usual so shouldn't affect shipping, special editions, slips, etc. But whether that would affect prices or taxes remains to be seen.

It's a one man operation from a leased warehouse in TO - I have nothing but great things to say about the Canadian arm of VS, he / they are wonderful, and I've gotten everything in pretty much record time. I got a replacement Necromancer poster, got my BF order in tip-top shape, orders before then have arrived speedily, and now I have more bubble wrap than I know what to do with and a giant box to sit in, I mean, store things in.

Agree with you there 100%, nothing but good experiences with "VS Canada". They even replaced the wrong version of Grave Robbers they sent me from the BF sale within a few days.

I met with the VS guys back before the pandemic at their HQ in Connecticut. They were telling me about a new contract they have with the Canadian partner to ship out of Toronto.

They are good guys and continue to get my business.

Good news, they are one of my favourite labels. Every release I have from them is top notch.

Is VS Canada actually up and running? For my Valentines Day order, I was charged $8 US for shipping. And according to the tracking with Canada Post, the item’s origin is Toronto and it’s shipping to me located in Toronto. $8 US for shipping a single title within Toronto seems a mite steep.

The VS Canada-specific online store, no. However, VS has a warehouse in TO to take care of Canadian customers and they use CP. It's $8 USD per order during sales, as well you can add more items to that sale order afterwards, they adjust their shipping options to offer that. Outside of the sales they hold it's free shipping over a certain $$ amount (I think $100 USD).

Outside of the sales, apparently you can request items to be added to a previous order via email, but I've never done so. There's one or two Canadian members in the VS main-thread that have tried, but no follow-ups on whether it was successful.

Per order? Well, crap, I wish I had realized that, I would’ve added a few more items to the order.

My Valentine's Day order had 13 items in it and it was $8.00 shipping.

I have used the "add to previous order" option before and it worked. I had free shipping on the previous order and was just adding an extra.

The site's back live now. Picked up the Martial Law combo, She Mob combo, Smut without Smut combo and Red Roses of Passion. Came out to $100.97 which just barely qualifies for free shipping.

unless they cut a deal with canada post who knows what they pay to ship. even with the small biz account u only get like 5% off and to ship with tracking cost at least 14 cad with the discount.

companies like amazon and bb get huge discounts. like bb once a package was a few days late so i opened a ticket and the cost of shipping that canada post said that the label costed bb $4... same package would cost me $14.. with a discount.

yet if u order a single movie off bb they still cheap out and ship it letter mail to save what a buck.

Received SexWorld 4K today, took exactly one week to arrive. Packaged in a Blu-ray case, which is a bit disappointing, to be honest. Wrapped in bubble wrap and slipped into a box with the packing slip. The tape they used to seal the box had their own designs on it, a nice touch! Very nice delivery package. The slipcover is actually beautiful and very sturdy.

Having said that, there’s something loose on the inside. Haven’t had a chance to open it yet, but something is definitely rattling around in there. Likely not a big deal; I won’t be complaining to VS about it.

Yes, Vinegar Syndrome is pretty top notch. All of their orders are well packaged because they know people pay a premium for the slipcovers.

Now with a Canadian warehouse, it is even easier/better to buy from them with the lower rates and fast shipping.

I do wonder how this will affect their dealings with Unobstructed View.
