i have a question. i see alot of people on here say there going to get this or that at best buy UNLESS amazon price matches. now im curious, why would you order it online and wait a couple days when you can just go to your local best buy and pick it up when you want it, unless you dont live near one. but then again your saying youll get it from best buy unless amazon price matches so you gotta live near one? best buy has the reward zone program, NO OTHER store offers something like that. so why order it from amazon?

I think alot of people buy from Amazon for a few reasons over Best Buy even it is the same price and they have 1 close to them.
1. When you click on a link from this site to Amazon and buy the item the site gets a small amount for every transaction so they help support this site. 2. Not everyone cares about getting things on release day and don't mind waiting for the package to come to their door. 3. Most people hate dealing with the melon heads that work at most Best Buys. 4. No sales tax. |

The majority of the people who work at Best Buy are really dumb. At least, from my experiences they are. I do go to Best Buy sometimes, but I prefer ordering from Amazon, to be honest. |

i get free shipping w/amazon's prime membership...it's already paid for itself w/all of the money i've saved on shipping.
+ it's 2 day shipping, so if i pre-order a new release, it's @ my house on release day. i bought LOTR @ best buy 2day b/c i didn't make up my mind till this morning. and amazon has it back up to $63.99. ![]() i can't bring myself to spending $29.99 on movies anymore....esp. when amazon has the same movie for $7-$10 less. |

I live in one of the 4 states that must pay taxes on Amazon, but I still buy from them for the Amazon credit card points and because I have the stuff delivered to me at work. I don't shop for Blu-rays at Best Buy very often, but when I do the price for discs I want are almost always considerably less expensive on Amazon. If the price is the same and I just happen to be in store then I will pay Best Buy, but since I usually shop online for the discs I want (rather than making impulse buys) that rarely happens.

many buy only at Best Buy if Amazon doesn't match. I'm the opposite ... if it's the same cost at Best Buy, I'll just buy it there. I only use Amazon if it's significantly cheaper. Reward Zone is a big reason why, but also not having to worry about shipping screwups or delays (I have the worst luck with UPS). |

I once bought 90% of my Blu-rays from Amazon. However, since they dropped price protection and any sense of true customer service, it is my opinion that you would have to be a fool to pre-order anything from them. That is, unless you don't have a Best Buy, Walmart, Target or Fry's Electronics anywhere near. I can buy something at Best Buy and be satisfied that if it is offered for less elsewhere I am protected—plus I get my reward zone points. That program pays off. I got my Lord of the Rings Trilogy for $49.99 because I had two reward certificates of $5 each. The only time I buy from Amazon is when it is a terrific deal that would be hard to beat. But with Walmart, Target, Frys Electronics, Best Buy and now Ultimate Electronics selling Blu-ray movies, I find better deals locally.
That being said, I realize that purchasing from Amazon contributes to the site and Blu-ray.com has saved me alot of cash—or cost me a lot of cash—depending on your perspective. I try to use the "deals" links whenever there is something offered at a bargain. Last edited by AaronSCH; 04-07-2010 at 07:11 AM. |

![]() The thing is... Best Buy is actually cheaper. ![]() -They have the reward program -Once your a silver member you get FREE shipping (i have gotten all orders in less then a week) Since i have like 500 blus i have a back log of things to watch. ![]() -other sites offer cash back which usually absorbs the cost of taxes. -They also price match for at least 30 days (45 for RWZ silver members) like AaronSCH mentioned Amazon ditched their price protection guarantee -If I get buyers remorse or find it cheaper used on line at GoHastings or at a local store I can walk in to the local Best Buy store and return it. -Manufacture Coupons accepted (YMMV) All this and minimal contact with the "melon heads" lol ![]() Don't get me wrong i love amazon and i use it quite a bit for hard to find items and the marketplace. Since i have a free Prime trial I have been using it quit a bit more for 1 item purchases as well. They offer great customer service and minimal problems. Almost all of my problems with amazon are when ordering a collectable dvd/blu sets (eg. Futurama Collection in the Bender Head) and its damaged in shipping because the knuckle heads in KY dont package the item well enough and its damaged in shipping. But for single item purchases Id rather spread my money around to other businesses like Target and Best Buy. I have a thing with spending all my cash in 1 place. So i usually go to the source of the deal not the company "matching" it. I just hate the idea of a monopoly. I have noticed amazon does a lot of "matching" yet rarely offer deals of their own since frequenting this forum. I'm starting to resent them as a company for that reason alone. If they aren't PMing Best Buy its Walmart or Target or Deep Discount... Etc The only benefit to ordering through them is the tax free benefit and they use it to their advantage quite a bit!! I guess I am personaly losing respect for them as a company for just using other establishments promotions and the tax free incentive to generate sales vs actualy putting items on promotions themselves. ![]() But that just my 2¢ Last edited by EvilE981; 04-07-2010 at 11:20 AM. |

I like rewarding the stores that discount with my business - it encourages them to have similar sales/prices in the future. |
