Nitroplus announced SoniPro (which stands for Super Sonico in Production) for the Nintendo 3DS at the summer 2013 Wonder Festival this weekend. The title is an idol-producing game and is being developed by Imageepoch.
SoniPro stars Super Sonico, who is the mascot of an annual festival held by Nitroplus, called Nitro Super Sonico. While most know Nitroplus primarily as a producer of visual novels, these music festivals are the other thing they’re known for.
In SoniPro, you help Super Sonico train as an idol as her producer. It looks to be quite the ambitious production as Imageepoch and Nitroplus say the game won’t be out until winter 2014. SoniPro will have a completely original scenario, and Imageepoch are developing the game in stereoscopic 3D.
Also announced at WonderFes was More! SoniComi, a PlayStation 3 version of the 2011 SoniComi game for PC, with updated visuals.
Famitsu.com has published its first report on SoniPro, Nitroplus and Imageepoch’s upcoming Super Sonico idol game for the Nintendo 3DS, sharing a little more insight into the game.
As previously reported, SoniPro has you managing Super Sonico as her producer. In the story, Sonico is rather ambitious, being a*musician as well as a model and the lead of an all-girls band, in addition to pursuing her college education.*You manage the Nitroplus mascot’s schedule, overseeing live concerts, swimsuit modelling, costumes and more in order to take her to the top.
Naturally, there’s also a mode in the game that has Sonico posing while you snap 3DS screenshots with an in-game camera. You can then save these images to your SD card and share them with others.
Japanese indie label Georide will be handling the game’s music themselves. In the music department SoniPro, will feature both popular as well as entirely new songs. Famitsu’s report mentions that Georide staff signed on for the project because they’re fans themselves.
SoniPro is slated for release in winter 2014. Nitroplus are overseeing the game’s scenario themselves, with Imageepoch handling the development legwork.
Soon, Hatsune Miku won’t be the only virtual idol with a PS3 game. A port of the PC game More! SoniComi featuring Super Sonico is in development for PlayStation 3. Dengeki PlayStation reports the game will be available on March 20, 2014.
Regista, the developer of Phantom of Inferno and the sci-fi visual novel Root Double: Before Crime After Days Xtend Edition, is handling More! SoniComi.
The PS3 version will have full voice acting for the adventure part and a photography mode. Additional costumes will also be available as downloadable content.
