Do you think younger kids (between 8-12 or so) of today see R-rated horror films as we did back in the day? I certainly remember seeing all the famous horror movies on TV all the time when I was a little kid (Friday the 13th, Puppetmasters, Halloweens, Nightmare on Elm Streets, Poltergeist, House, The Shining, etc.) during prime time, as well or during the day. I remember these movies being on during regular hours, not just late at night.

Unlike you, I would have been turning the channel fast if one of those were on tv, because those movies scared the hell out of me as a kid.

Hahahaa man I grew up on horror flicks. I was allowed to watch whatever I wanted. HBO was great to have growing up in the 80's. Good times man simply good times. I clinged to horror films although some scared me as well. I would be excited and scared at the sametime haha. Got Em!!

We the OP did say anything up until you're 14, so yes. I was 12 when it came out and I'd still count it as one of my favourites from my childhood, possibly not in my Top 10, but still a favourite.

"Star Wars: Return of the Jedi"
"Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back"
"Star Wars"
"Ghostbusters"
"The Goonies"
"Gremlins"
"Back to the Future"
"E.T."
"Raiders of the Lost Ark"
"Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom"
"Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade"

Some other runner ups would be "Beverly Hills Cop" (my mom tells me I used to love the opening truck chase scene as a kid), the "BTTF" sequels, "Gremlins 2," "Batman Returns," "Superman: The Movie," "Beetlejuice," and various Disney films (like "Dumbo," "Sleeping Beauty," "Pinocchio," etc).
