Default 100 Movies to See Before You Die: Modern Classics

Yahoo! has this list on their site. I like the list. Seen a majority but not all of them.

I thought the list was pretty good too...even though I'm not a big fan of the last 20 years of film in general...

I like Goodfellas ok, but I've always thought it was way overblown.

Maybe it was just me, but Hard Boiled got repetitive and boring pretty fast.

Man I really don't like that poster for ESotSM.

I think many of the best movies on this list are foreign... like Diving Bell/Lives of Others/4 Months just from the last couple years.

EDIT: I've seen ~64.5 or so. I couldn't last all the way through The Bourne Ultimatum.

I'm on the other side. There are only 5 on the list I haven't seen. I guess I better make sure to watch them before I die.

And to anyone wondering, the 5 I have not seen are:
Living in Oblivion
Fireworks
Yi Yi
Elephant
4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days

The foreign films and Living in Oblivion I probably just missed and never got around to. Gus Van Sant is always so hit-or-miss with me, that I never gave Elephant a chance.

I've seen these 2 of the 5 you haven't seen, and I was quite impressed to see both on the list. More impressed to see the former, feel the latter is a better film.

4 Months is an amazing piece of art, imo. The final shot of that film (shot through a glass window, which is key) just blows my mind. This film is in the highest tier of all films I've ever seen.

If you enjoyed something like The Lives of Others, then I can't see this one disappointing you.

I have seen 78 of them, 79 once my Avatar Blu comes in. A lot of the others were the foreigns that have come out that I just plain have not gotten to. My favorite on the list is Schindler's List, but I may never watch it again because it is so hard to watch.

Lone Star is a criminally underseen film that I hope any of you that have not seen it will check it out.

This is bogus.

2001: A Space Odyssey & Blade Runner are not even on that list

Yeah I know they're talking about "modern" movies, but those two are light years (a bit exaggeration I know) away from the most "modern" movies.

I really would like to see you list of the last 20 years and what you would put on it. And the fact that you have only seen 17, really makes me question why you would think it a crappy list if you have not seen 83% of them.

it's from the start of the 90's to now!

Those two are great though (obviously presuming about 2001)

Yeah I know it's from the 90's up, read my post

You should definitely give 2001 a Blu-ray rental!
