Thumbs up Best Buy Samsung 55" 3D LCD = WOW

Hi all, I was just at Best Buy today, i picked up Ninja Assisin in Blu Ray, i walked over to the tv section to see if they had the 3D set up yet, sure enuff, i put the glasses on, they were showing a 2 minute loop of Aliens Versus Monsters, and it looked spetacular, the 3D scenes were looking sweet, there was one part where she aimed the alien pistol, it actually looked like it was coming out of the screen, lol...oh yeah, i cant wait, myself i am waiting for that 72 inch Vizio to come out...:P

Yeah, OP, how dare you share your personal experience with 3D on this message board!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Glad to hear you liked it. I myself have never checked it out, but maybe I'll do it before too long.

I saw the tv in store yesterday. Was pretty damn nice looking image in 3D.
The price was just under $3000. I believe it was $2979.
This was in Southfield, MI.

I sat it yesterday in my Best Buy and also was underwhelmed. The TV looked like a decent Set. The 3d just didn't look like I expected it to. It did not look bad, just not worth the extra money and hype. It would be cool for certain movies that come out while having a movie night. The 3D just didn't "pop" like it does in the theater.

To be honest, I was kind of relieved that I wasn't super impressed and didn't have to have it. I still prefer my 1080P 2D set up and am wowed everytime I pop in a movie.

I went this Friday to Bestbuy, and saw the Samsung demo too. I honestly think it looked like garbage. It actually looks better in 2D. I mean, it makes the image a tiny bit darker (not entirely darker, more like less contrast), gives this annoying flickering effect (cross talk?), and the 3D effect just wasn't there. Definitely not worth the price tag.

They also had the Panasonic VT20, but they didn't have the glasses for it. Lol. That was a shame.

I remember I saw like 2 years ago a demo of 3D gaming in a TigerDirect store, and the effect was WAY BETTER. Much more realistic in every way. It might of been nVidia 3D Vision, but I'm not sure. I just know, that the computer version I saw was extremely real. I really felt as the screen was a window into another world, not kidding, while the Samsung version just felt like cartboard cutouts poping out of the screen.

I can't wait to see the Panasonic version.

The Panasonic demo is amazing. The Samsung is just, eh, but the Panny has incredible depth to the 3D

I stop by BB to see the Panasonic and was also told their 3D glasses were missing. I was also told the Panasonic was a lot better then the Samy. The Samy gave more depth but the Pany seem to pop out more. I can't wait to go back to the the Pany.

I was surprised the C7000 Samy was 240 Hz. Many be the guts of the TV is the same as the B8000 series

I thought the same thing!! The Samsung was average at best with "Monsters Vs Aliens" playing. But the Panasonic plasma's image was INCREDIABLE!!! It was showing scenes of Italy and the image depth was breathtaking!

we have the demo at my store that i work part time at. One quick thought that saddens me is that in order to make the switch I would have to lose my pio elite. In order to run the 3d signal through your receiver it is going to be a newer one that is 1.4 compliant. Pq wise I thought the 3d looked pretty sweet considering it is one of the first sets on the market. Mind you there will probably much better ones in the future but for a start it wasnt half bad

I've only seen the Sammy so far and I was impressed by it. I definitely want to check out the other sets before making a purchase its just hard to find places that are demoing them.

I was in BB this morning to buy the Toy Story movies and checked out the display for the Samsung 3D TV....not impressed. I watched for approx. 10 mins to see if it was just certain scenes that weren't getting that "pop" we have all seen with the recent Avatar movie but nothing that really wowed me and the second pair they had on display were already broken(had liquid like spots in the lens) they don't seem to be very durable if they are broken after 2 days. Oh well guess I'll have to check the Panny's quality I just don't see enough movies that really need 3D but hey we'll have to wait and see, definitely dont need the 3D at the moment.

No I am not. I felt the Samy had depth in the picture but I also thought the Panny seem to pop out of the screen more. Plus the Panny moved with me as I moved from one side of the room to the other. Almost like the old felt paintings from Mexico. Remember them? The eyes of the painting would watch you as you moved crossed the room in front of it.

I wouldn't mind owning a 3-d ready set if:

1. I was in the market for a new set.

2. the picture in 2-d was just as good as the one I get now with my Kuro.

I'm guessing thet the Panny is as close as I'll get. Hows the 2-d picture on that 3-d ready Panny?

Either way I'm several years off from upgrading my TV or Receiver as I've just done that within the year.
