Default gaming with headphones/headset

i currently am using an old motorola bluetooth device for my online gaming communication. it is junk, so i needed to upgrade.
a friend works at Koss and she gave me some new vibration headphones w/ mic. see here...New Headphones
unfortunately they are wired, and are also made for the PC. they have 2 jacks...1 mic, and 1 headphone. but Koss also makes a USB dongle that will input the 2 jacks, and output to a single USB that i could plug into the PS3.
see dongle here...USB
does anyone know if this will work with the PS3?
there are also these wireless phones...but much more expensive, so i doubt she could get them for me for free. see here...Wireless
i need some advice on what product to go with. i don't mind paying for the wireless headphones, if i know they will work well. my first priority is having the best quality sound from the earphones. it is more about the audio experience for me, as opposed to talking online. the mic quality is secondary.
what brands/styles of headsets do the rest of you use?
