Default Do you miss games once you beat them.

Ok gang,

I want to know if I am alone on this one. I have found that when you dedicate a lot of time to something, especially things like watching a complete season box set or playing/trophy hunting a game, after I'm done for days afterward I want to go back to it.

I don't just mean games that promote continuing play like a sports/racing/fighting games. they have endings but you can always go back and play with friends or whatever.

I mean like I played Heavy Rain for days getting the platinum, and while the story was interesting and I enjoyed the gameplay, after playing the same scenes over and OVER again to get all the endings I don't want to see it again. And yet a part of me wants to play again simply because it was bulding into a psuedo habit.

it's interesting in a psychological kind of way. It almost makes it hard to start a new game because there is this phantom tug to keep playing a game that is over, even one you didn't like very much.

or am I just a freak?

thoughts?

i thought i'd miss the god of war trilogy after i beat all 3 games....but now that they've been gone for a while, i actually don't really care that much.

i beat the 1st 2 games 3x each and i beat the 3rd game 2x.

yeah they were fun but once u know the story and have seen it multiple times, it loses that special something.

yeah I know what you mean. thats not exactly what I was talking about though.

I mean after you beat them that many times, did you find yourself thinking "ok I have to go home and play Gow3 for a few hours, oh wait no I don't. thank goodness."

not that you want to play it again, but that you are so used to playing it you almost, ALMOST miss the gameplay. like muscle memory, you have done it so long that you just expect to do it again.

its not some drastic feeling, it's very sublte but I've felt it a lot when I am plating a game.

Oh sorry, totally missed your original point.

To answer your actual question…..NO.

Once I’ve played a game all the way through and have gotten all there is to get out of it, I’m actually happy to be done and cross that one off of my list.

There are actually games that pissed me off to the point of not wanting to play again once I was done……I got that way after collecting all of the feathers in AC2.

Loved the game but it became tedious @ that point.

I constantly replay games. Trying to find different ways of completing levels... easier ways to find weapons etc., just trying different things. I suppose it's like movies with me, I re-watch films for different reasons... artistic standpoint, directorial or DOP POV's, acting, structure etc. I always discover things I didn't see or notice the previous time(s).

The only games I have done this with is the GTA games. I just love going on rampages after I have finished them and see how long I can last against the FBI or the army. San Andreas is the best one for this with its large map varying map.

Plus Resident Evil has been play quite a few times.

I've probably had this feeling with many games. You become so engrossed it becomes part of your daily ritual

Yup, Final Fantasy X and IV are the ones I get that feeling with the most, lately been having kind of an itch for Final Fantasy VII though.

Sounds like you have an OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) trait. I have this very same problem you speak of.

Exactly. I just want an unlimited supply from both of these games, Drake covering every inch of planet Earth, then off to explore other planets as well. Nothing tops these two games.

My feelings exactly.... I want to play the single player on both of these all over again.
this is one game I would spend 50 plus hours playing through the single player.

I wish Devil May Cry 4 never ended.
I kinda miss the game but for the most part I never go again. I just loose interest. I either don't want to go back through the painful journey again or there is another game (11 in my case) waiting to be played. However, I do replay some of the favorites sometimes.

After I beat Uncharted I seriously didn't want that game to end it was so addicting. With uncharted 2 I was upset too, but hey atleast I had the online multiplayer. But now I'm looking forward to Uncharted 3.
