United Kingdom Catalog WB Titles in September

Spotted these just now in the upcoming titles on the homepage here

Looks like Warner are releasing some good titles here in september:

The Exorcist
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B003IHVKRY

Forbidden Planet
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B003IHVKS8

Lost In Space
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B003IHVKRE

Mars Attacks!
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B003IHVKR4

Rush Hour
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B003IHVKRO

THX 1138
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B003IHVKSS

Timecop
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B003IHVKSI

Fringe: Seasons 1 and 2
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B003IHU5K2

I'll be picking up Rush Hour, Timecop and Mars Attacks out of those.
Probably get Exorcist and Forbidden Planet at some point too.

And i thought Rush Hour were distributed by EIV in the UK, along with the second Rush Hour, which i also hope comes out at the same time.

Cool, thanks for the news.

Would love THX 1138 to be available in the original non CGI-monkey version but it's unlikely and I assume -hope- The Exorcist will be the original version too.

THX 138 will be a sale either way but The Exorcist definitely not if it's the re-edit.

Lost in space and rush hour are newline titles and distrubited by EIV. I was wondering why warner announced them.

Did they announce them for EIV and told EIV to release them on those dates or have EIV lost distrubition rights to newline titles so future titles will be handled by warner.

It be interesting to see when they come out.

Mars Attacks and THX for me. If THX ports over the DVD features, there was a good documentary on Lucas' early days pre-Star Wars on there, and not just Lucas, but some of his contemporaries too. Worth getting just for that.

Slightly confused as to what EiV's role is - do they ever actually make the transfers themselves? Or do they just distribute some Warner titles in the UK which have actually been made by Warner and are thus the same as US releases (only sometimes region locked)?

Anyway, the Exorcist for me! Looks like Seven will be out as well, distributed by Warner or Eiv...

Yes EiV do make their own transfers, but not for every title. For example, they released U-571 with a completely different transfer than the US Release and in fact, the transfer created by EiV is much better than the one used by Universal for the US Release. On the other hand, they released Lord Of The Rings with the exact same transfer as the US Release.

With EiV, it is pretty safe to say that if they are releasing a title distributed by Warner/New Line in America, the transfer and disc (in some cases) will be a direct port. For other companies, it is not always the case.

Oh ok, thanks
I think I'm right in saying that in addition, they region lock their titles as well, at least some of them (LOTR and Brokeback Mountain come to mind) which could be region-free elsewhere.

Yes you are correct about that. There were a few very early titles from EiV that are Region Free but those days are gone.

EIV have lost many of (all hopefully!) of their rights from product owned by Warner, MGM and several other owners.

EIV did some interesting VHS sleeves in the 1980s but they seem to have never moved on.

I love how the prelim disc at for The Exorcist states "25th Anniversary".
