Nice to see some of the DVD extras ported over to this new release, but it's going to be too little too late unfortunately. The film itself just isn't worth a re-purchase for me, even at an expectedly low price.

I was just talking about this movie with a friend of mine the other day. Haven't seen this since theaters. I think they're rebooting the TV show, so this is probably getting re-released to cross-promote that.

Mill Creek still has distribution rights from Sony and Sony has given Mill Creek the approval to re-issue the film with newly provided added-value materials. For Mill Creek's release obviously.

It is a promotional anniversary re-issue to build hype for the CBS television show revival based on this 2003 film.

So essentially, the 2003 film is inspired by the 1975 television show while the 2017 TV show is inspired by the 2003 film.

Mill Creek previously received a new HD video master and 5.1 audio master from Sony for a Flatliners' re-release but without new added-value material, all MC could do was get approval to create the Steelbook edition.

Not all Mill Creek titles are MPEG2:

Flatliners Steelbook is AVC with DTS-HD MA 5.1

Night of the Living Dead 50th Anniversary is also AVC with PCM Mono

You prefer 384kbs Dolby Digital 5.1 over DTS-HD MA 5.1?

For this movie it is perfectly fine. If it was a movie I loved and it added new features I would certainly upgrade. Don't need perfect a+v for every title out there . Don't have that kinda cash .
