The movie was just right - running time, tone, location, cast, Joe Dante as director, and a self-contained story that did not need a prequel/sequel. Turning it into a TV series is going to stretch that out into a different kind of thing and one that at the moment I have zero interest in.

Yea, can't disagree with everyone else. The Burbs was a generic idea with perfect execution, and it's not that popular. Even in today's lazy, failing, legacy-tv environment, it's an odd I.P. to return to.
On the other hand, if they cast Chris Elliot to live above the Peterson's garage, I'd be trying out Peacock for the first time. (in Get a Life, Elliot played Chris Peterson, whose family lived in the same house on Colonial St). ![]() |
