Default Blu-ray - Firmware up-grade

Hell, I had 7 Blu-ray players and I have to confess: somestimes it's the pain in the a** to keep up with most current firmware upgrade . They're all different brands and models and at least 5 of them are the Sony brands, the rest of them are Panasonic . For Sony upgrade, the process is painless . I don't trust the download process and burning ISO file . I just go to the Sony website, with a few clicks and fill out the information, I will have the upgrade CD disc in 3 days, just pop the disc in the players and voila ... in 10 min, it's done . For Panasonic, the actual process is simple too, except you have to call and talk to Panasonic reps before they send you the disc, and they're are not very friendly at all, ask you some very stupid questions ...

So, are most of you doing the same thing ? or any different ? Please share your experience, because I really hate to do this ...

1. Do you upgrade firmware for your player anytime the manufacturer issues the new firmware for that particular player anyway ?

2. Do you ony upgrade your player to the newer version firmware if your player doesn't play some of the newer release BD disc ? and don't care if your player have no problem to play any disc ?

3. Any of you never do firmware upgrade since you purchase your BD player because you don't want to or don't care ?

4. Do you upgrade firmware mainly because you want to play some of the new features on the newer discs ' options and the new decoding sound options ?

5. Do you think any BD player should be able to the play the main feature (movie) without any firmware upgrade ? regardless ???

Thank you for your inputs

5. FW upgrade will always be parts of Blu-ray, because the ACSS can change the Key anytime. And they do a lot... I think i've update my Samsung 2 times in 2009 and never had a real problem with it playing back movies and tv series..

I've did all my FW update using either the BuiltIn Internet downloader or burning the disc myself... (of the 4 players i had)

I just download and burn the file, pop it in, and all is fine.

A simple process.

I have no complaints.

Its funny unless I can't play a certain bd disc I'll do a firmware update. Its pretty easy if you have you blu-ray player next to your modem and have it hard wired. There is no need to burn a disc of you have a 2.0 profile and you are next to your modem and router.

I prefer not to do firmware updates but if they have to be done then they are done. I have a pretty good blu-ray player where the fw as not been a problem.

I click on the check for upgrade on the BD player and if there is a new firmware, I click install.

I always update the firmware when there is a new one.

Nevermind me if you are talking about a PC BD Drive....

Are we talking about PC blu-ray players? I've done one firmware upgrade to the BD drive, but I'll never do another unless there is a problem that needs to be fixed. But I do the upgrade to the software whenever a new version is available.

Default Samsung BD-P3600 Firmware Update not working

Hi all.

Sorry to be a pain in the A but I have a real problem.

I cannot play my new BluRay Avatar DVD as my player said I needed to update. So I have tried to connect via network, cd and usb but to no avail. It just wont work.

I have been reading through the forums and I gather that my model blu ray is not compatible with macs. I guess it's obvious from my last sentence that I have a mac (macbook).

SO, is it true that it is possible I am having problems because I am using a mac?

For some companies and players they only have firmware updates that can be opened on a PC, which is stupid.

In this case you will need to contact the company to get a cd with the firmware sent to you in the mail.

And why is this in the HTPC section?

https://www.blu-ray.com/firmware/ always check this link for latest firmware updates corresponding to your player.

http://www.samsung.com/us/consumer/t...il&tab=support Download your firmware here

you can use a USB flash disk to update your player, kindly read the instructions very carefully before applying it here:

http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/co..._Guide_USB.pdf.

Good Luck

I have a Panasonic DMP-BD60 player, and updating the firmware is easy. I just go here, download an burn the .iso onto a CD-RW, and insert it into my player:

http://panasonic.jp/support/global/c...0/bd60_na.html

I have no idea what you're describing when you say you have to talk to Panasonic reps. You can probably look around on their site to find your player. Note that this is their global site (.jp)

Default Firmware MESSED ME UP!!!!

So I just got a Sony TV and the bdp-570....
I keep my CD's, DVD's and Blu-rays MINT because when I buy them I make a back-up (first thing!) and store the originals. My wife loves a few of my movies but I don't want to give her my originals because she's not good about keeping them nice, she also likes a few of the movies I have on my hard drive..
So...I have made back ups of the bluray discs for her and copy's of my other dvd's in the Avchd format using TsMuxeR and ImgBurn. I just bought her the BDP-S470 and we watched a few movies last night. I connected to the internet for the first time and did an update.
NOW 2 WEEKS OF MAKING COPYS FOR HER DOWN THE DRAIN BECAUSE SONY PUT SOME KIND OF BLOCK IN THE FILMWARE THE BLOCKED AVCHD or something! IM NOT A PIRATER, I MADE COPY'S OF MY BLURAYS!!!
Can I roll back the filmware update or copy my blu-rays onto dvd another way without buying a $300 bluray burndrive for the PC?
This is way too controlling of them.... It's reminds me of buying a car, then you get on the road and find that they will only let you drive on SOME roads some times....... not cool!!! Can anyone help
