One of the most talented directors in Hollywood, Fincher has a way of making the mundane or ordinary feel epic or larger than life. I think Benjamin Button is technically his best film and this is my favorite of his, with Se7en very close behind. The mood in Se7en and the execution of the bleakness of the world in the film is extraordinary.

I believe FIGHT CLUB is as critical to defining the essence of Generation X as EASY RIDER was for the Baby Boomers. I love almost all of Fincher's movies; only underwhelmed a tad by ZODIAC (awfully talky and not nearly as cinematic as his other works) and BENJAMIN BUTTON (a vast improvement on FORREST GUMP, but the main character is still a bit of a reactionary cipher).

The Film Editing in Fight Club deserved an Academy Award nomination. I can't think of that many movies that have better film editing than it. It's just a superb piece of work. I googled the editor and saw on IMDB he has done some other great films.
Film Editor: James Haygood (The Game, Fight Club, Panic Room, Where the Wild Things Are, and the upcoming TRON: Legacy ) Last edited by The_Basterd; 06-05-2010 at 03:10 AM. |

1) Fight Club
2) Zodiac 3) The Game 4) Seven 5) Alien 3 Fight Club is my favorite of the group. It is one of those films I can pop in any time and enjoy it. Zodiac and The Game are pretty much a tie but I give a light edge to Zodiac. Alien 3 I didn't like very much at all. Have not seen the others I did not list. EDIT: I agree The_Basterd, the film editing in Fight Club is superb work and really is a big part of what makes the movie so good. |

SE7EN hands down!
I really haven't liked much of his other films-- hated what he did with Alien 3 though I'm looking forward to seeing the director's cut when it comes on blu as I hear it's a much better film. Zodiac bored me The Game had a thoroughly obnoxious ending and I detested it ![]() I liked Panic Room and I've never actually seen Fight Club ![]() |

Oh and this was "said" on the Paul Thomas Anderson thread, not this one. This looks like the "Fight Club" get-together. Last edited by SpiderBaby; 06-05-2010 at 06:57 AM. |
