USA Will you watch any military movies this Memorial Day?

Of course, today is the special day (here in the U.S.) that we can honor our fallen veterans. Will you watch any military movies today?

I think I will put on Saving Private Ryan, followed by U-571 and Black Hawk Down. Maybe Letters from Iwo Jima.

Movies like these can really ground us, and make us feel exhuberant as well.

Enjoy this day, everyone!

Can't believe I didn't think of Patton. I might have to work that one in.

I was planning on watching Saints and Soldiers last night, but never got around to it. Today would be more fitting for a war film, anyway, so I'll most likely view that tonight.

I have never been the type to specifically watch one type of movie on a holiday. I can watch a Christmas movies in June and it not bother me. If i do watch a mar movie today it would be Black Hawk Down but my plans are to play some Red Dead Redemption along with Bad Company 2 and finish watching Alias on DVD.

I would recommend Taking Chance.

Saw it for the first time yesterday. It's truly a Memorial Day film. It stars Kevin Bacon as a Lt Col that volunteers to escort a fallen Marine home. Click on the link to check out the synopsis. True amazing story about how the Military escorts each and every fallen hero to it's final resting place.

And a big thanks to everyone that's served!

Watched WWII In HD for the first time. Better then any movie I can think of. And that's not a knock on war films cause I like watching them.

+1 I watched it when it first aired and it was very good. I'm glad that each and every sacrifice is still honored that way

I'm holding off on watching Saving Private Ryan until June 6 in honor of D-Day. I havn't watched that movie since I was at the American Cemetary in Normandy last August so i'm sure i'm gonna ball my eyes out when I do. I will be spending the day in my pool drinking Coors Light with my family

P.S. thanks to any vets/active service members who might read this, you are our nation's greatest treasure

From a Vietnam War Veteran - THANK YOU!

On TCM HD I've enjoyed watching Battle Cry and Darby's Rangers (I never saw any of these widescreen before). Also the 1945 classic, Pride of the Marines. Will probably watch U-571 this weekend (and a bit of trivia: I grew up in Chicago and have been inside the U-505 outside of the Museum of Science & Industry more times than I can count). I wonder why Das Boat hasn't been released yet on BD?

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY EVERYONE!
