Obviously there are huge gaps in the blu-ray catalog that will never be filled, especially compared to DVD. But I'm kind of curious about what films somehow never saw a DVD release, yet have found their way onto blu-ray.
Of the blu-rays I own, I'm aware of The Egyptian and Rapture. What other "forgotten" films never made it to DVD, but have somehow made it onto blu-ray? ![]() |

From what I know "The Perfect Weapon" was never released on DVD until its blu-ray release, just a month ago. I own the Laserdisc and VHS copy. So trust me I waited for a while to upgrade this title, and it finally came out on blu-ray.

I was looking at getting Assault on a Queen and The Buccaneer and I don't see a U.S. release on amazon for either of those. That seems to be the case with almost all of the recent Olive films. I guess that is probably not a coincidence. |

This technically qualifies: The Shadow (1994) was released as a 1.33:1 DVD that used the same transfer from the VHS. It has been released in Germany, but is the master used for the region 2 DVD (correct AR) and is loaded with enough halos from EE that you would think Alec Baldwin is an angel.
So as I said this qualifies because the released DVD was simply a VHS port in 1.33:1 instead of 1.85:1. |

* I didn't count Olive releases such as The Hellstrom Chronicle and The Buccaneer, because they do have DVD editions - they just didn't get released in SD until Olive did an HD version. Ditto for MGM/WB's Quo Vadis. |
