Default Connecting PS3 to a monitor

I want to connect my PS3 to my monitor to save some money. I have a I-INC AH191 19" monitor and the original 60GB PS3. I bought a DVI to HDMI converter and tried to connect it through HDMI cable. It didn't work. I switched my PS3 to HDMI video output and nothing showed up on the screen except it saying "Input Signal Out of Range." I didn't by a DVI to HDMI cable I bought a connector that has DVI and HDMI on the other side. I am looking for any help to make this work, if there are any settings I have to change on my monitor. Also if there is a reason it wont work.

Sorry if this is in the wrong place.

Thank You
Cliff Loker

try holding the power button on the ps3 to reset output settings. it should display at 480 and say it detects an hdmi connection and ask if you want to use it. select yes, screen will go blank for a sec or two and come back with resolution set to something compatible w ps3 and your monitor.

I actually did try that and it did say that there was an HDMI connection detected. The only issue is that when I reset it nothing showed up on my monitor and my tv went blank as I was changing it to the HDMI which is on my monitor. So that is suppose to work then?

It's possible the HDMI to DVI adapter be defected.

+1, failure is always an option.

Looking at the spec sheet of the monitor, looks like it doesn't have HDCP. I'd make sure before looking anywhere else.
