I hadn't seen much information on this title, and when I noticed Alice Krige had the lead role, I chose to buy it blind. I enjoyed her quirky, strong performance in Gretel and Hansel (2020). She was so beautifully suited to the role of the aged, mysterious, powerful witch in that film, and she transitioned seamlessly into this role which carried some marked similarities. What the film lacks in substance and originality in terms of its broader themes, it makes up for with excellent performances, rich atmosphere, creative camera work, a cool remote setting, and fairly solid effects. It kept my interest the entire time and felt much shorter than its 95 minute run-time. I hope this title sees a 4k uhd release down the road, perhaps overseas.
