I would like to pre-order as I support every silent movie release. The fear is that Kino Lorber will later release of the whole Dr. Mabuse series in one volume. I hate to double dip which is what K/L did to Buster Keaton fans like mewith their later release of a longer collection of Keaton's films.

Nice, I hope that means the Lang boxset isn't too far behind. MisterLime had stated that it would include this, Spies, Woman in the Moon, and I assume others like Metropolis too. Made a thread for the boxset here: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...highlight=lang

I also hope Criterion can release The Testament of Doctor Mabuse soon too. I already have the UK release, but it's long overdue for a stateside release

Woo hoo! I'm loving Kino and these Fritz Lang releases. This one is a sure purchase, of course.

I've never seen any of the Mabuse titles and sadly know next to nothing about them, but am intrigued by this. For some reason I had it in my head that they had Horror elements to them? Anyone?

No, not really horror, more crime/scifi. They are kind of like serial cliffhangers with a lot of suspense and action. Mabuse is a criminal mastermind who is always plotting nefarious schemes. They are often wild and unpredictable and always very entertaining. I don't want to spoil them for you by saying more, but trust me, they are a lot of fun. The Eureka MOC versions will likely be the definitive ones when all is said and done.

I'd recommend The Testament of Dr.Mabuse to start with. Lots of great German Expressionism in this one with a plot that's very easy to follow. I'm sure Kino will eventually release this since they've released all the other Lang films that Eureka/Moc has released.

Were you perhaps thinking of The Cabinet of Dr. Cailgari? That one is more of a horror.

The MOC titles are dirt cheap, even in America... I wish someone would release the final film in the trilogy, though.

I really hope that they replace the last Dr. Mabuse the Gambler soundtrack on the last dvd release, a terrible abstract plinky plink soundtrack, just didn't fit the film. Dr. Mabuse the Gambler is just not an abstract film

If I understood the new review of this disc, one is better off buying the Eureka version, if one has a region free player or, as I do, have RedFox to rip the 'B' locked disc to HD for viewing. The Eureka is cheaper also. I would get the Used- Like New one for 8 pounds ($10.66). (+The Tarnished Angels MOC new for that same price)....

Sorry. Do you have a link to that review comparing the Kino blu-ray of Dr. Mabuse: The Gambler to the Eureka/MOC version?

Or to any comparison reviews of the two blu-rays?

I like how the wikipedia page just has the whole movie embedded, both parts.
